So here’s what I’ve done with success... let the beer finish fermenting or just about done. No gravity measurements necessary. Transfer to a keg and add priming sugar or DME. Purge the head space with CO2. Attach the spunding valve set to whatever pressure you need to get your volumes of CO2...
I have been using a plate chiller for over 10 years. After I brew I flush it with tap water thru my garden hose. I don't put it in the oven but stand it up so most of the water drains. On brew day I put one step cleaner powder in the beer side and slowly fill it with hot water and let it sit for...
I do pale ales on nitro. You need to brew them a little different than for CO2 taps. Go a bit heavier on the crystal malts and specialty grains and hop for flavor over aroma. Don't bother dry hopping, the nitro kills the aroma.
This beer is 20% CaraRed malt and has 2 mixed ounces of some South...
The bag is falconer's flight. It's a blend for pale ale and ipa. Use that in another pale ale with the Columbus for bittering and the Cascade for flavor.
I've been eyeing one of these hop screens for a while. Has anyone compared the difference in hop flavor/aroma between the screen and a paint strainer bag?
This is a great thread. Just wondering if anyone has been using this method without dryhopping and what the results are compared to late boil additions (15, 10, 5, 0 minute). I mostly brew APAs but I don't often dry hop. Seems to me that massively dryhopping along with a hop stand would make it...
I have a vial of White Labs East Coast Ale, but I've heard mixed reviews. Can anyone recommend a good pale ale or IPA recipe that works well with this strain?
