    Cats

My cat actually mostly stays out of my kitchen - we'll see if that holds true once I start brewing, haha. His name is Mayonnaise, and in this photo, he's about to tell me off for pestering him to look at the camera.

What I did for beer today

Perhaps some etching cream would solve the problem? It's not paint, but it might count as a 'better way' - you could likely use it and then paint the etching, curing it as you are now, without the issue of stencil tearing?

Irish Red Ale Raging Red Irish Red Ale

This looks so good, and malty is my favourite characteristic in beer, so I might have to scale it to a gallon or so and make it my first brew.

    Hello all, from Canada.

Hello from Alberta! You've got more history with homebrew than I, but I bet we'll both end up enjoying delicious beer!

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

To reply to both of you at the same time: I want the siphonless LBMB. It's the perfect size, easy to clean, and I love the look of it anyway - but, it's not available in Canada, so I need to order it, and nobody who sells it offers any sort of insurance on international shipping. So, if it...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Hey folks! Getting ready to pull the trigger and order my brewing setup to get this ball rolling, but I figured I'd ask here before I whip out the credit card - Can anyone who uses the one gallon FerMonster attest to its quality? Many of the reviews I've found are only initial opinions /...

    Beer question for you experts!

I was definitely in the 'beer is gross' category for many years - it wasn't until I tried some darker beers at a friend's wedding that I even realized that there were flavour profiles to be had - I sort of assumed all beer was the mass market pale yellow stuff. There are so many styles of beer...

    Smallest Etched Kettle Available?

Thanks folks! I've got this 12 quart stock pot in my amazon cart. Stock pots in Canada that aren't super thin aluminum seem pretty pricey, but this one is at least very well reviewed. Provided I don't find anything better, it's likely the one I'll go with.

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

It's looking like I'm going to have to order my ported one gallon Fermonster from MoreBeer anyway - the only place I've found them available in Canada is Amazon, and they're the unported version. They're pretty expensive on Amazon, so even after conversion to CAD and shipping costs, I'm pretty...

How to add permanent volume markings to a kettle (illustrated)

Do you think it'd work alright if I were using stencils? No way I'd try and freehand it, hah - I need a ruler just to think straight.

How to add permanent volume markings to a kettle (illustrated)

I've just been directed to this thread, as I'm looking for a much smaller kettle than is usually sold with etched markings. I'm wondering if something like this engraving tool would also work? A little overkill when everyone here seems to be using a 9v and a q-tip, but I'd have to purpose-buy...

    Smallest Etched Kettle Available?

Hi there! I'm slowly piecing together a small batch AG BIAB setup, and obviously, the kettle is a big part of the equation. I really, really like the kettles I've seen with etched measurements for liquid levels - but, the smallest I've seen seems to be a 5.5G Anvil kettle. I'm looking to do...

    Hello from Western Canada!

Hi there! I've been trying to get better at budgeting and generally handling my money for ages - and one of the first things to go when the purse strings pull tighter is inevitably my beer. I'm hoping that by getting into all grain brewing, I can cut my beer budget down to something...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Awesome, thanks so much for the picture. Definitely helps me be sure of what I'm getting. Thank you for your knowledge - I don't have the money to be contributing to my homebrew junk pile out the gate :D I have very little DIY acumen, nor access to proper tools to be modifying things that I...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

I found them - though oddly not when I specifically searched for them, they showed up in a 'related' option, haha - but the seller doesn't ship to Canada, so that's a no go. Pity, because almost every single Canadian fermenting option in the size I want doesn't seem to come with a spigot :( I...
