    ANYTHING by Aslin

That beer looks just like the Trillium Vicinity I drank yesterday, everyone seems to love Trillium, I thought it was loaded with yeast and not that good, once it hit my tongue the beer went down hill fast. Thanks for the heads up my friend lives in Virginia.

Size brew kettle for 10 gallon all grain batches,,,

20 and don't look back, before I did 10 gallon batches I always used my 10 gallon kettle and it was never too big for 5 gallons. Too big is way better than too small, if money isn't too big of an issue.

    Plate Chiller Question

Bobby has all the parts you need at brewhardware. I just put a stainless t on the wort out side and put a 1/2 inch thermometer on the top.

    Plate Chiller Question

I have always put the cold water on full blast and used the ball valve on the out side of the pump to regulate the flow which regulates the temperature. Doesn't get easier. 200 in 68 out. Recirculating defeats the purpose for having a pump for me as I want a quick brew day.

Yet another, 'what the hell is this growing in my beer' thread

Why secondary so long? Unless it's a big big beer age is not necessarily your friend. When I first started I made a kick ass beer with that can of Coopers real ale, made me a believer that I could brew my own. Cheers.

Recipe for a Dry Irish Stout?

My 2 cents is stick to the basic dry stout clone recipe and mash low, if you don't it will never attenuate enough. I also like to use WLP 007 Dry English ale yeast I think it makes a superior dry stout. I make 10 gallons once a month and am drinking it on nitro at 14 days, this beer does not...

    Help me pick a smoker!

I have a friend who has that exact model and he couldn't be happier with it. I have had lots of meat smoked from it and all was excellent. I can't wait until spring and then I will have saved up to buy one. Good luck!!

    What yeast for an IPA?

My favorite is Dry English ale yeast. White Labs WLP007. Try it you won't be disappointed.

SS chugger pump $102 good deal?

That is a good deal, I don't think it comes with a cord but that is cheap enough. Let us know how you make out. I wouldn't order from that site. I think a site that gives no address or information is a little shady. Good luck.

    Guiness is Overated

Guinness out of the bottle does suck, out of the can or on draft it is much, much better. When I do feel like a guinness it's a must to buy the cans.

batch spargers - how long do you wait?

To me the whole idea of the batch sparge is to save time, letting it sit is a big time waster in my opinion, stir, stir and stir again then vorlouf and let it fly. If I had an hour to take to sparge I would fly sparge. I have done the double batch sparge before and it did make a small difference.

American IPA Bee Cave Brewery IPA

You can do it either way, whatever time permits. I dry hop in the primary all the time. As far a your calculations go that looks right on the money, although the strike temp seems a little low. using my system when I made this recipe I mashed in at 154 degrees using 172 degree strike water. I...
