Hi,

I'm looking to start my first batch (of red) and I'm looking for recommendations on either a good simple recipe, or a good quality kit to start out with. What quality of wine will I get from a kit?

I'm thinking of a middle of the road red, like a Zinfandel, but I don't want to waste the time on a kit if after a year I'm going to be dissapointed. Also, there seem to be a few grades of quality and prices, so do the 'premium' kits give premium wine?

Am I spending too much time worry about all this and should just shut up make some wine??

I'm assured that premium quality kits do give better results than the cheaper ones, but having never done one, I couldn't possibly comment.
I think it might be better to start off with a kit though so you can learn more about the process.

Have you considered doing a fruit wine?

Dicky
