First, the Strip has a very weak beer selection. Bmcs, SNPA, Sam Adams, sometimes Fat Tire. I definitely acquired a new appreciation for SNPA, must be a lot fresher there. When I've tried it here (Minnesota), there is almost no hops whatsoever.
The Burger Bar on the second floor of Mandalay Bay has a wicked good selection. I tried Dfh 60 and 90(tasted like barley wine?). Also something called Hop Ride I think? Free samples of everything are available. Most taps and bottles of any place I've been. Cheaply priced by Vegas standards.
My wife was shopping in the Miracle Mile mall in Planet Hollywood when we stumbled across a sweet little hole in the wall. Sin City Brewing company has a nice little 8 seater bar with 4 of their beers on tap. The pilsner was great. The amber, meh. Had to buy a tee because their logo reminds me of my wife (devilish little redhead).
Lastly, I wish in any city you could stop in a convenience store, buy a 24 oz. SNPA for 3 bucks, and walk all over with it. :drunk:

man, there are some actually nice beers there. Pour 24 in Ny, Ny has some good ones I cant get back in Ohio. Down in the old strip there are 2 places to get good brewpub brews. Main Street Brewery has some good stuff and had a Black IPAish beer for 3 bucks for s 22. Also Chicago Brewing in the 4 queens has great zaa and some ok beers. Cant forget Ellis Island Brewpub. 7 bucks for a filet dinner and beer. Beers are ok, better than the buds and millers out there.

Since when does anyone go to Vegas for the beer?

I have spent many days and nights in Vegas. I spent my 40th there on a business trip. SWIMBO was very jealous at the time. Needless to say she was home with the kids. Unfortunately, I was not able to spend my 50th there.

Just outside the srtip, there's the yardhouse http://www.yardhouse.com/ LOTS of beers on draft, and a little futhur down the road, in henderson, the M hotel also has a pretty ggod selection.

The Silverton has a brand new bar with a really nice selection. They have Yellow Snow IPA and Stone IPA on tap as well as 6 or so more craft beers on tap.

Yellow snow on tap? Damn, I wish I'd have made it there...

I think you may be thinking of hop rod rye

I got carded 3 times, and had to call my wife over to show her ID at the bar at the Yardhouse in Scottsdale. I was 28, she was 29. Seriously?

That did it for me.

Yeah, they are ID nazis, which is annoying. I saw them kick someone out of the bar area because his driver's license was expired. The guy was over 30. WTF? Yeah, he can't drive with it, but it is still an ID that tells you his age!

why would they do that at a bar with an over-age paying customer? Vegas usually only does that when you are winning at the tables :)

130 beers on tap!!! What is the problem with recommending it?

Agreed. Every time I've seen it mentioned I see someone complain about it, but never any reasons to back it up. Why all the hatred?

One time I had friends with legal, valid out-of-state IDs be refused entrance to the place. We went inside and the place was practically empty, too. Then on top of that they check your ID every damn time you order a beer. Want to get a beer for your SWMBO who went to the bathroom? Nope! Even if they've already checked everyone's IDs they won't do it.

The number of different beers they have on tap is definitely not 130. It's still a good number, but that is definitely not true. If you walk around the bar you will find several tap handles pouring the same BMC. And, they may have a bunch of beers on tap, but they don't actually list all the beers. They have a list which is basically the ones always available at all the Yardhouses and thus printed on the menus, but then there's other beers on tap for which have no list, and the only way you can discover them is by walking around looking at tap handles.

Also, I have never had good service at one. Maybe just the ones I've visited (Long Beach, Pasadena, Irvine, and LV), but we're talking even when my group has been one of three occupied tables in the entire place, and there's all this staff standing around, nobody comes by and asks if we want more beers, food, etc. with a table full of empty glasses and plates. Always have to flag someone down or go to the bar yourself. Also the staff in general just don't have any knowledge of any of the beers or just beer in general.

Could be I'm spoiled or something, but I'd much rather go someplace with a smaller, decent selection and better service where I don't get carded 20 times. I like Burger Bar, as mentioned in the OP, because the staff there are friendly and knowledgeable, and keep our glasses full. They actually care about beer instead of just pour it. One time we went there, they also recommended other beer places to go in and around Vegas.

Every time I got free booze at casino's, I'd opt for Heineken because that's the only real import they had available. I'd let my buddy do the gambling and I'd drink the beer, as long as the waitresses got tipped they didn't care. However, the waitress at Hooter's casino threatened to throw me out even after tips. Oh well.

you guys must not have good luck at your yardhouses. over here, they're nice. the food is kinda meh but the beer is good. besides, you didn't go there to get a 4 course meal, you went to get beer, and that they do quite well. servers here in kc know the basics of beer, and that's good enough for me. (i mean seriously, if they were true connoisseurs, they would only recommend 2 or 3 of the beers out of their entire selection, and diss you for ordering something not overly hoppy lol.) they also have a printed out card that has all of the "specialty" beers on tap for the week/month/whatever.
personal opinion, i like the flying saucer more, but only because i like their food more. it also helps that it is closer. the yardhouse does have alot more options on tap, though.
