Thanks. I was confused by the 3 layers. Trub - yeast - more trub?
 
My mason jars are usually 1/2 to 3/4 full of trub.I swirl it all up and dump er' in.Never had a problem.No washing.

That looks like a ton of yeast and should work well.I usually get thin lines of yeast.Like a gold vein sorta
 
Yeast is distributed throughout. The only thing you're doing by "washing" it is risking the potential of introducing enteric bacteria.
