Yeast Starter

So im doing a yeast starter for the first time- yay me lol; but on my software it calls for a 2800 ml starter, is the amount i boil 2800 ml and if so how much dme would i need about 2 1/2 cups?

You need a starter gravity of 1.04. For a 2800ml starter, you need around 11.5oz of DME to get a gravity of 1.04.

11.5oz DME = 326 grams = 1.96 cups.


So, to answer your question, you need around 2 cups of DME, which is a little less than what you initially projected.
