Hey guys! I'm really starting to get into home brewing and having a ton of fun with all the ways you can make beer. I made my own stir plate and did a yeast starter with some Wyeast 1968 for my upcoming pale ale. It went just about 24 hours and started to get clumped up, so I assumed it was time to park it in the fridge. Well, what was supposed to be one or two days turned into one or two (maybe three) weeks. Today, I'm ready to divide it and pitch another starter so that I can brew next week, so I got it out of the fridge to bring to room temp while I boiled up some DME. Once it got up above 54, the yeast started to become active again, and now that it's up to almost room temp, it's super active and the wort has gotten pretty cloudy. What should I do at this point? Should I pitch another vial of yeast on the starter I've brewed and let this one finish? Or is it ok to divide this flask and pitch half of the 1968 onto the fresh wort so that I can brew later this week? I'm not committed to anything except having fun, so either option is totally viable. I just like watching the stir plate spin.

Don't think one day is enough for a starter even on a stir plate. I usually let them go 2-3 days to make sure it's fully fermented out. You crashed too soon so yeast dropped out and took a nap until you warmed up gain. Just pitch it and let it ride!
