So, they can make beer that tastes like an ale, but takes 2-3 times longer to make?

Yeah, they should know that us homebrewers are already an impatient lot.

But it does sound like trying to get ale characteristics from lager yeast. Which gets me thinking, why not just pitch WLP810 and a fruity/spicy ale yeast together, and keep it at the lower end of the ale yeast's temp range?
 
I guess it's for breweries that are already built around cold-temperature fermentation? The differences seem like they would be solely at a microscopic level.
