Nobody has it online, guessing it wasnt released this year or no longer the nov/dec release date. Would love to get my hands on a sample.

I checked with a friend who does the ordering/inventory for a large LHBS. It's not available at the moment.

Perhaps consider WY2007 for a CAP or Czech Pils, WY2035 for a CAP or American Lager, or Saflager 34/70 for a Helles, Bock, or German Pils. Oh yeah, or WY2042 for a Dortmunder. ...not sure what you're brewing.

They don't have the same PC releases every year. I actually just talked to the owner of my LHBS about a different PC yeast and he said what they often do is just release whichever 3 have been most requested recently. He said he talks to them fairly frequently and meets up with some of the Wyeast guys at the National Homebrew Conference every year and that's what they've said. If you want a certain PC yeast just email them a couple times and it might be part of the next PC release.

According to mrmalty it is the same strain as White Lab's WLP920. No experience with either, but that is what the internet says.

total BS.

low floc vs medium
attenuation 73-77 vs 67-73
"very clean and dry" vs "finishes malty...slight ester"

they dont even sound similar. im still looking for 2247. anybody?

can trade some wlp850 or some wlp835 "lager X"

sorry @dawhip- didnt mean to be rude. i appreciate the help. just a bit shocked no one has ever really thought about the comparison being made.

No worries. I looked at that too and thought it was interesting because several other sites also list them as the same strain, but they definitely have different characteristics according to the manufacturers sites. I wonder if they come to those numbers through independent research? Maybe they are the same but tested differently at the different sites?

i have a feeling a table was made, with some verifiable matches, some best/educated guesses, and some wild ass guesses. this is probly one of those.

or a mixup between another strain that used to have a different name, was discontinued, etc.

Yeah, I poked around a little more out of curiosity and it looks more like "produces similar results" than exact strain.

I looked a while back at their website and could not find a contact section or a place for retail customers to contact them.

Looks like this (541) 354-1335 is their number, but they redid their site (unfortunately poorly without proper redirection in place) so I can't find their contact us page anymore either.

Thanks BigMack for the number.

Looks like using their facebook page might be way to put in a request for a particular yeast. I see other there asking about particular strains.

@OP, curious why you are interested in 2247, is for a particular recipe or just want to try out the yeast?

a little of both. what's interesting is that this used to be called danish lager II yeast. but was cancelled under that name and apparently became "european" lager for wyeast. (from what research i can find) im big fan of the danish lager, so im guessing i might really like this one too.

as there arent nearly as many strain choices for lager brewers as there are for ales ive been on a bit of a research kick trying to track down old strains. i know some old school pro brewers who can tell me all about an old yeast strain, but they dont know where to find it now as alot of the older yeast labs either went out of business or were bought, merged/etc.

im hunting down an eastern euro strain currently that sounds amazing for dark lagers.
