I threw yeast (whitelabs) and capped last Friday on a Red Ale. The airlock bubbled like crazy for about 24 hours (late Saturday to Sunday). Since then there has been no action in the airlock. My OG was 1.040, I tested it yesterday and it is 1.020. I tasted what I had in the hydrometer tube and it still tasted sugary. I want it closer to 1.00 correct? Although, there isn't action in the airlock, is the yeast still working to make alcohol. I am hoping to rack to secondary this Friday. Any thoughts...Thanks.

It's probably still working. With no activity it's ready for the secondary.

What was the temp when you took your readings? Did you adjust it up/down for 60F like the directions say you should?

Yes, you want it closer to 1.000 (water), but chances are your general desired range is between 1.010-1.020 depending on the type of beer.
