Hullo,

I have a brew which has been going for a couple of weeks, I recently transfered it to a new larger pot to make it a larger batch and the scoby isnt sitting at the top anymore however it has this at the top:

Is this just a new scoby forming with yeast or do I need to throw out the whole brew?

Thank you.

Looks like a new scoby forming. Give it a few more days and it will be more obvious. Mold will have little hairs growing off it and will grow in patches. I think you are fine.

Looks like a beautiful baby scoby :)

You'd be amazed at the different textures, shapes. and colors that a scoby can grow into. I have a 5 gallon batch going right now with all sorts of odd looking scoby surface growths. It's all part of a healthy ferm.
