I'm sure this has been asked before, I just can't find the info anywhere. SORRY!

Has anyone gotten a useable yeast from an orange?

i watched the video on getting yeast from grapes, so I stared the process on sunday just for fun. I also had a bunch of oranges from a friends orchird so I figured I'd try one of those too.

Today is day three, they have been in jars at 70-72 degrees, both are carbonated. I go in every few hours, shake the jars, open and check them. Nothing is visable yet, but both have a pressure release when opened, and you can hear the carbonation from shaking them.

Has anyone tried this?

No, I have not tried this. Your post seemed so lonely, though.

Did you put the oranges in H2O? I have seen methods of outdoor wild yeast cultivation/gathering in which the vessel remains to the open air. I would presume this to be most viable.

Hope it works out!

Haha! Yes, sterile container and water. It's looking like I'll at least have a bread starter. I'm going to try to use it for my citrus rye anyway. It's be cool if it works.

First couple of days, nothing. I'd check it every hour or so, it got carbonated, so I fed it some DME. Not its going nuts. *fingers crossed*
