I'm curious as to whether anyone using the Fermzilla Tri-Conical Gen 3.2 has any experience using the collection jar for dry hopping and/or other additions. I've been looking into the hop bong, but it's as expensive as the fermenter itself. Plus from what I've heard getting the cooling coil and thermowell to fit properly with the tri-clover lid is a big PITA. It appears to me that after dropping yeast, that I could clean, re-sanitize, and load the collection jar with hops and purge it just like the hop bong. Then I could open the valve back up and use CO2 to rouse the hops up into solution periodically. Anyone try this?

I've been wondering the same, but haven't seen much about it. I have the BrewBuilt X3, and agree that the hop bongs seems a bit over the top, when you have a collection jar with similar abilities. The conical is new, so haven't played around with it much.

Yeah -done it without even purging. I did it with a few points left to go and had no issues with oxygen.

Here’s a good demo of the process. Starts about the 7:50 mark

Just be very careful not to overloosen the black cap on the contra lateral side. I accidentally did this once and blew Mosaic all over my basement. 😣
