Just got my shipment of hops and yeast from brewery lane and first of all the queasy American ale yeast did come with a ice pack, but box was insulated. Now I don't know if it is ruined or not second thing is the MFG is 21MAY12, so again is that the exp. Date? Thanks for any advice or info the brewery lane label said 05/24/2012????

You can make a starter for your yeast to make sure it is viable and healthy. You can do a search here on HBT and find lots of info, and read this great info on starters here http://www.mrmalty.com/starter_faq.php

24 hours in the box will not harm the yeast.

MFG Date is the date of manufacturer not the expiration date.

Sometimes you just got to stop over thinking things, pretty sure mfg has never meant expiration. Yeast are tough they'll be fine.

I guess if I kept reading it said its good till ~6 months after the MFG date and will last longer in the fridge.
