Can it explode? They can get pretty inflated, I'm sure they've thought it out and I'm just worring but can it happen? I was thinking I'd just buy 2 packs and pitch those rather than doing a starter tomorrow. Was gonna smack em at like 9ish and let em sit at room temp till like 3-4pm and pitch is that alright?

Yeah thats chill. Although depending on the beer, you don't necessarily need to do a starter. I tend to like my hefeweizens with some esters from stressing the yeast by under pitching. I have done both and there is a difference in taste, but I wouldn't say its a huge difference but it all depends on your preference.

But as far as it exploding, your fine. That has never happened to me.

My LHBS has a fully swelled smack pack that looks like it is about to explode just sitting on the counter.

Date it was smacked: 2005.
