WLP810 San Fransisco Lager Recipe - Pale Common Beer?

I am not a big fan of anchor steam or the style in general, but I love me some pale hoppy lagers and ales. I have a big yeast starter of 810 spinning up as a way for me to brew something different. I was thinking using the framework of California common out of beersmith using all the style points except for color.

A hoppy, 1.050, steam style beer that is pale in color ...maybe 7 SRM. Pale malt, crystal 40, biscuit, cluster and sterling hops up to 40 IBU.

Am I going down a bad path here?

I don't think it's a bad path...sounds kind of like a Pre-Prohibition-style lager.

I guess I just don't like anchor steam. I don't like the flavor and aroma of that beer at all. I have a hard time finishing one and I can drink pretty much anything.

Anchor Steam is all Northern Brewer hops. Maybe that's what gets to you.
