If all goes as planned, I have a connection that can get me stainless steel and diamond plate aluminum at a reasonable price. I plan to go floor to ceiling with a stainless sheet(or the diamond plate) where the brewing will be done. The rest of the walls will just be painted.

Great thread, I was lurking some more at the beginning. The progress is great to see!

I really like what Chipotle restaurants have done with their wall treatments. They are utilizing tin roofing for the walls, and I think it looks killer!

It might really save you some bucks, and should be pretty easy to work! Just an idear

Seems to be coming together rather quickly now, and looks great. Do you have an estimated "christening" date?

Depends on the money situation. The bar/TV area will be a work in progress. Hopefully it will be brewing ready in mid August. Meaning all paint, trim and finished electric will be done. I won't "move" in until that much is complete.

I actually thought about putting that on the ceiling. I do like the old school look of it. Lots of great ideas, but I can only use so many.:mug:

Coat number one of three is done. This is a two part paint, the painter prefers to do two base coats instead of primer. Then the top coat is a metallic clear coat of sorts. I hope it looks good, because it's fricking expensive. This is where doing it yourself pays off, I can afford to waste a little money on the finished product.

I love being crapped on. AFTER mixing the paint for this project the ****** at Lowe's snickers and say's good luck with that. I say, is it going to be a problem?
He snickers again and say's he not saying anything but good luck. I should have immediately hurled it at his stupid face and walked out. Fast forward $450 later and my fantastic brew walls.

Yes it's dry, and yes it looks worse in person. That's 5 freaking coats applied by a painter, I watched him, he did EXACTLY as the video stated. Somehow the metallic topcoat is jacked up, the base coat was beautiful.

I seriously wanted to cry like a little girl. Now it has to be gone over two more times with a different color. I just lost the urge to brew for a long time. And finish a jacked up brew shed.

Wow... I would go have someone's ass at Lowes. You should be refunded your money for some crap like that. That type of behavior from a employee at a DIY store is unacceptable. Obviously he knew something... I would go and talk tot he manager. For $450 +painter costs, it is worth making a stink over.

Don't get discouraged, you are soooo close!

It looks rolled ? Metallics have to be sprayed wet to get anything decent. It's a very tricky paint. Wet spraying is subject to runs, dry spraying (lighter, thinner coats) won't look right.

I'd talk to the Lowe's manager also - from their ads they share their knowledge - this ******* didn't help, he COST you -

Pick something else, and get it for free...maybe a nice expensive two-part epoxy paint that will wash well...

Funny thing, the directions say nothing about spraying. Did it exactly like their video shows, and that's how it turns out.

What is the brand of the coating?
So you can look up others' complaints, and use them to your advantage (Lowes' response will likely be "Consult the manufacturer")
And so we know not to use it ;)

That sucks, wildwest. After 2 coats and it still looking like that, I would have most assuredly gotten the sprayer out. You probably can still salvage it with a single sprayed-on top-coat, but you may be too emotionally distraught at this point to deal with it.

Valspar, but their regular paint is good. It's the "brilliant metals" topcoat you need to stay away from. The base coat looked great.

Actually 3 coats of just the topcoat, I don't own a sprayer. It's back to a good ole solid color.

Sorry to hear about this WW. I agree with the above 2 people. I would go into Lowes with receipts, pics and that story and not leave until I had satisfaction! BTW I would approach this with the "more flies with honey" approach. Going in screaming will probably not help your cause.

Do not loose the faith over a logistical problem. You have a fantastic space that will be perfect when it is done. I am years away from even attempting this! Even with the paint as is, I still think this is a great project!

+1, your story pisses me off and I have nothing vested. The guy knew this product sucked!

Wild, step back and breath, Yes this sucks big time, but you've come to far to turn around. You have an awesome brew space. Like Zimail said go back, get what you can from Lowes, minimaly they should set you up with a new paint job.
But for what it's worth I would have kicked the idiot in the teeth after he made the "Good Luck" comment, and hauled his ass to the manager.
My brew shed is miles away from where you are right now and this thread has been inspiring.
Keep up the good work and brew on!

I was a tad pissed off when I posted yesterday, i'm a little better now. One of my friends is excellent at getting results from people, she is going to write Lowes and Valspar for me. I'm more of a caveman, and nothing will be gained from me going to complain, trust me. I already have my new paint, I went downtown and supported the local mom and pops hardware store. I bought 2 gallons of Pratt & Lambert paint, which i'm told is a decent product.

Thanks for all the advice.:mug:

You could rent one or even hire a painter that has one of their own?

Sounds like you're resigned to abandoning this, though. :(

Edit: Caveman Wildwest has moved on! Carry on, good sir, carry on! :p

Walls are repainted, that makes 7 coats in all. Wifey basically matched regular paint as close as she could, it looks nice. Ac, ceiling fan, base for cable lighting, and outlets are in. Painting the trim today.

Looks good. I'm doing my own renovation. Just a full addition / office with drywall and yet to do the texture and paint so I feel for your frustration!

WOW! I stumbled upon this thread almost a year ago when you were first halted by crappy weather. And now I happen to see it again today and am treated to an awesome and very well done brew shed build. Sorry to hear about the paint fiasco but it sure is a nice fix. I simply can't wait for more updates... I yelled when I realized I had caught up.

The last of the lights. This picture doesn't do it justice, it's so cool. It's a low voltage system that feeds power through the cables. It should be almost directly over the bar if I measured correctly.

I appreciate all the kind words. It's nice to get a boost when your doing everything by yourself.:mug:

Hey I quoted my own deleted post, what a tard.

Don't be surprised when you hear a knock on the door. Sorry couldn't resist.

Your brew hut looks great

YET another reason to kill a cat. IF I EVER catch one of those giant rats stealing my beer, POP goes the kitty!!!!!!! WORTHLESS animals. Pound for pound the most viscous mammal on the planet. They LOVE to kill other animals and don't eat them, they do it JUST for sport.

To quote an old friend of mine...

"Cats are GREAT!! Everybody should own two. So they can breed their own targets!"

Oh, And one hell of a build too.

I finally got my floor to my liking. It took 3 coats of of quikrete sealer followed by 2 coats of cvt sealer, then 4 coats of wax. The pic doesn't do it full justice, but it's close. It looks wet.:mug:

Awesome to see how this has come along. Glad I found this thread again. It looks great. Can't wait to see itall finished and ready for brewing! Good job WW. :mug:
