So tonight we were stuffing the envelopes with our wedding invitation, and I have a glass of my first ever Dog Head Ale 90 min IPA (soo much better than the 60, btw). We finish up, and I reach for the stack of envelopes to hand them to SWMBO to put them away until we actually send them... and knock over my glass... right onto the finished envelopes.

After a brief moment of panicking on both our parts, we assess the damage and she says, "Well, that's a waste of a good IPA."

She still winced like crazy after trying it, and made me brush my teeth before she would kiss me... but yeah, she's a keeper.

DEFINITELY a keeper. I am in the middle of the same insanity, and if she kept her cool for that, she's got to be a fairly laid-back, reasonable person. Congrats on your impending nuptials. You got a winner. :mug:

Now just get her to like IPAs. :D

Congrats on finding the keeper and the upcoming nuptials. Until my SWMBO met me, the only beer she would drink was Bud Select. She's still not a beer fan, but she'll drink my homebrew on the occasion. It took a long time to convince her that this was a hobby I NEEDED to pursue. We're 6yrs into the marriage and we've had some really rough moments (those first 9 months are HARD) but I've never looked back and would definitely do it all over again. Congrats again!

FWIW - the smaller the wedding, the better. 2yrs after it's all said and done, you won't still be paying for it and your friends will still remember it. Our friends still thank us for having a short, low-key wedding and reception. It wasn't a huge ordeal for anyone.

Congrats on a good gal and the upcoming wedding! I agree with above, if possible keep it small, it's all about her though... We had ribs at our wedding, and my bride ate them in her wedding dress, and didn't get anything on it!

I had a 90 minute last night. Kind of sweet for me. I guess I prefer my IPA a little drier.

My wife also said she wanted to smell it cause it smelled good. She wouldn't take a drink though. I wasn't going to tell her it was an IPA, but she read the label.

Oh, how I wish it were small. Since all 4 of our parents have tons of siblings (4-9 each), and the families are close, we have a very lengthy guest list. Luckily, neither of our families would be very excited about having alcohol at the wedding, so that's a huge savings there. (Besides, I would want to get good beer... or make it myself) We're going to have a really laid back wedding... no dancing, no band, no speeches. We're pretty busy on it as it is, I can't imagine trying to put together a more "traditional" bigger wedding.

Congrats on the upcoming wedding. I have been married for 1.5 years and can truely say its been amazing.

Yes, your SWMBO is a keeper. Mine lets me keep yeast starters on our counter for a week and I take over about half of our really, really tiny utility room for my bottles & fermenters....

She puts up with it and just knows its my hobby and I love to do it. And she will drink a lot of what I brew

Congrats - and yes you've found a keeper! My 20th Anniversary is in 9 days - and I can say with confidence that if you both take everything in life as seriously as she took the dousing of the invites - you're gonna have it made in the shade! Our worst times were when we really sweated the small stuff...and it's all small stuff 20 yrs later.

Sounds like a keeper and congrats on the wedding!

I had the last of one my home brewed IPAs in a glass on the table next to the couch when SWMBO kicked it over as we began "fooling around." She was so upset that she insisted on pouring me an oatmeal stout before we continued. I really just wanted to continue....:D
