I'm a hobby, partier and giving brewer. I got stationed in Germany and drank some damned good beer there. I realized Budweiser just wouldn't do it for me anymore! I continue to brew because I like a good beer that doesn't cost $9 a six pack.

I guess for me it all comes down to the fact that I love to drink great beer, but great beer costs sooo much to buy. I can make a batch of great beer for a fraction of what it would cost me to buy. Plus it does make for a relaxing day. I don't get all stressed out about brewing. Not to say that I don't obsess a little about it, but I don't get to the point where I find myself worrying about the most minute details about it. So for any Newbies that might be reading this, just make sure your sanitation and fermentation temps are good, and you can expect some beer that you will be happy to drink, and share.

Hobby Brewer here, not even sure how it happened I got a wild hair and the next thing you know it I am brewing a beer in the kitchen with my brother and just never stopped.

I do cider and the reason I do is simple--you can't buy decent cider in the United States of America. It's all nothing more than sweetened apple juice with artificial carbonation. When you do your own, you get something closer to Irish or English cider - dry, fermented out, with natural carbonation. And I use regular old apple juice from Sam's Club along with the cheapest brown sugar at the supermarket. It's as close to Bulmer's as you're going to get unless you take a flight to Dublin.
