Why did the yeast settle underneath the trub?

Just wondering why yeast would settle underneath the trub.

I am doing a dales pale ale clone and using WLP001
 
Obviously! All the examples I've seen have had the yeast on top of the trub.
Just wondering if there is something wrong with the yeast and if it's still good.
 
I've only ever seen the yeast on the bottom. That is how yeast washing works. Don't think you've got anything to worry about.
 
I have had this problem with T58. or T85.... whichever it is. I basically just poured out as much of the top layer as I could and then made a starter and stored the crashed result. Looked much cleaner.

It surprised me when I saw it also. Nobody I knew had come across it.
 
Thanks for the help! Gonna make a starter with it to try and clean it up, then store it.
