Does the 5 gal of Apfelwien I made Sunday afternoon count?

Nope, that would count against your 200 gallons of wine you are allowed to make annually. Yeah Baby! :rockin:

Really? Wow.

American and Canadians are so similar, yet different in some peculiar ways.

For example, you all seem to like your guns and vigorously protect your right to bear arms. Up here, we have silly, silly firearms laws that do nothing, but Canadians are OK with that.

But down there, you have limits on your homebrew. Up here, we like our beer and vigorously protect the right to defend our beer! (To the best of my knowledge, we have no such law in Canada.)

Sorry to say but Sec 86 of the GLA here in Alberta sez 460 Litre limit per adult brewed on their premises. (Came up recently when the Minister shot down a BOP proposal).

Of course I've never heard of the RC's breaking down someone's door once they tick over 461 Litres.

That's better than down here. That would be 243 gallons for a married couple or two folks shacked up. Hmmm, if there were 4 adults, then that would be almost 500 gallons.... Just some 18-20 year olds going to a local college....Hmm.

Or, if you had 3 wives.....Yep, you would need 500 gallons then. :D

It's about that time again when we start tallying up our damage for the year.

I ran in to “my friend” again and he told me he’s at about 350 OUNCES for the year. Just slightly under the limit. Of course…he’s been know to tell some tall tales and with no physical evidence of such, anyone would be hard pressed to make a “federal” case.

Here’s “his” list of supposed brews this year.

So how about you? With a little more than 2 months to go…who else is in danger of going over…or very close to the limit?

Uh, the real question is how much of that is left?

I think the law is kinda like fishing limit laws. It's what you have in possession (ie, proof) at the time of inspection.

So, as long as your "Friend" has 40 or less corny kegs, he's good to go for any inspection. :D

I know a guy that's going to go over this year...if AHS gets his next few grains delivered, and the recipies go well....There will be a surge in late October early November that could...potentially shove him over the limit...if that includes wine. He "Claims" to have another 25 or 30 gallons of Mead and Wine in the works before the end of the year....but I'll not believe it till I see it.

I'm at 160 gallons right now so it's hit or miss whether I'll go over. I don't know if we have the same 200 gallon limit that you do so just to be safe I've been disposing of the evidence as much as possible.

Your "friend" is pretty damn cool, I'd like to meet him. I don't have any friends so here is what I brewed this year.

8-8-8 RIS 5G
Dude's LWPA 5G
Edwort's Kolsch 5G
Lumberjack's Breakfast Stout 5G (Dumped half)
Rye Pale Ale 5G
Wheat 5G
Chainsaw IPA 5G
Oud Bruin for barrel 5G

So a grand total of 45 Gallons for me which is more than I thought and means I've drank quite a few gallons of beer this year.

Your "Friend" is now officially my friend too. You know what friends do? They send their new friends all their beer to an address that can be obtained by a simple PM. :)

I started this obsession in March and since then I have brewed up 83 gallons. Holy cow, hard to believe it considering I don't get much help drinking it. :drunk: :drunk: :D

ps your "friend" is officially my role model. :mug:

You know what? I have a friend who has no idea how much she's brewed this year. None at all. She has vague recollections of some well loved beers, and some wonderful wines, but right now in the carboys there are only about 30 gallons of wine in various stages, and only 4 full kegs. She really doesn't write down how many batches, etc, but supposes she could figure it all out if and when the feds knock on the door. My friend admires your friend's thoroughness and good records. (We should maybe introduce our friends- I bet they'd get along famously! :D)

I'm at 132 gallons right now. Not bad for someone who didn't even know homebrew existed before this year.:mug:

In 2 weeks it'll be one year since I brewed my first beer. So far I've racked up 95 gallons; all 5 gallon batches.

Another example of my shoddy book keeping working in my favor.

I was gonna say the same thing...I haven't the foggiest idea.

And if I did, I still wouldn't post it for the rev'nuers to see...

(you don't think batf isn't lurking AND could find our IP addy's if they cared...and in this political climate...they just might decide to care.)

BM - That's a pretty good list.

I'm at 85 for the year.

I'm the only drinker in the house, so as it is right now if I make what I have on hand for ingredients I'll add 10 more gallons, 5 off from going over. I still have two full months left... I probably won't SWMBO is due mid Dec.

I have close to 40 gal right now stockpiled as the little one will keep my winter brewing activities to a minimum. I don't want to run out of beer.

I'm at 26 batches of beer and 6 batches of apfelwein so far this year; all 5 gallon batches for a total of 160 gallons. I don't anticipate going over, although it'll probably end up close. I've been brewing a lot lately as I was getting a large backlog of empty bottles to fill. With the 3 batches currently in primary, that "problem" will soon be solved and I'll be slowing down for a while.

I have this "friend" who brewed 190 gallons in a 12-month period once.

I think he told me now he has done 30 gallons in one month...

I know a guy who's getting there. He got beersmith in March, so the maybe 5 batches brewed before then amount to maybe another 25 gallons, give or take 5. I don't know where he puts it all...

Pink underware and green bologna for bad guys. We need more Sheriff Joe's.
If they come to bust your "friend" for too much beer, just sent the officers home with a corny.

Bite me you no knowing Joe Montanan. Oh and BTW he went to B&W stripes because the inmates were stealing the pinkies to wear on the street. The only decent thing he has done is chase illegals.
sorry bout that comment fifelee, but I have known of him for too long.

BM Is that the limit? I thought Carter made it 250 per year per person (at least I hope so), Or Joe might come knockin. At 10-15 per month I figured it was all good.
