I never had much of a problem with them after ingestion. It was usually at 2AM in a stupor and before anything bad could occur I would be passed out on a couch. However, their effect on the digestive system the following day was always catastrophic.
Thankfully, this evil franchise has not made it's way to the West Coast. (Although, we do have Tommy's)
A couple years ago I saw them in the frozen section at Walgreens. Just for the hell of it, I took a box home and heated them up. The taste and aroma brought on a storm of late night memories.
One in particluar was when a guy who tried to pick a fight with everybody in line was getting arrested in the parking lot. It was about 10 below zero and he wasn't wearing a shirt. He tried to convince a St Louis County cop that he wasn't drunk.
Back in real time, I was trying to convince myself not to eat any more the re-heated belly bombers. I paid a high price for this nostalgia the next morning.
