I really like Basic Brewing Radio. It's all-around good and I always learn something.

I listen to Brew Strong sometimes, but the sophomoric humor gets really old on the Sunday Session. I've been listening to some of the Final Gravity podcasts, also, and think some of them are pretty good while others are not as informative.

I like Brew Strong, but based on the few episodes of Sunday Session that I've heard, you have to weed through so much non-brewing stuff that it almost makes it not worthwhile to listen to.

How can others pan this one???

Granted I'm only at July 2006 in the archives, but TBN's The Sunday Session is absolutely excellent for both information and entertainment value. It's explicit, but that makes it better... and there's sort of a story line. I seriously have not found this good a show anywhere else on any topic.

Avoid 'spoilers' if you can... (I listened live once and noticed some of the big changes to the studio -- that I just had to follow up on).

The downside is that, at around 3 hours an episode, I may literally never catch up to present day. If you're looking for concise information without much entertainment, this is not the one for you.

It's definately not for everyone. It's the reason I didn't list it above because it usually brings out a lot of people who have strong opinions against them ( especially after winnning club of the year at NHC ).

The Session, while still homebrewers talking about homebrewing and craft beer in general, has moved more towards the craft beer side of things. I've been relistening to some episodes with Charlie Bamforth, Vinnie Cilurzo, Gordon Strong, etc.

Usually the first 20-30 minutes are dealing with announcements, news, and general "what we did this week" items. Once the guest is online, it is generally all beer informacion. After the guest leaves, we progress into the "meltdown" which is just people having fun.

Again not for everyone, but to the original poster, and anyone who hasn't listened, give it a shot and form your own opinions. Listen live and join the chat...lots of cool people in there and definately a good time.

Here ends the rant :cross:

I like Brew Strong, Brewing TV, and The Jamil Show (or Can You Brew It). I'll have to check out the Basic Brewing Radio.

I've listened to 3 or 4 Sunday Session shows and won't be listening again. I think I gave them a fair shake.

Everything on The Brewing Network... I'd describe most of it as a combination of morning drive radio humor and great brewing knowledge. If you're really uptight, the humor might be too much for you. If you can handle some low-brow humor, you'll love it, and you will learn a ton. Why not be entertained while you learn?

Can You Brew It and Brew Strong are both good.
Basic Brewing Radio I like too.

I spend a lot of time traveling in the car for work, so I have time to listen to all of them, and appreciate them all. Different strokes for different folks right? James Spencer on BBR--the guy works for NPR, so keep that in mind. You won't hear him belch on air, or swear. The brewing network shows are a little more blue, sophmoric as Yooper said, the Sunday Session more so than the others. Jamil Zainesheff and John Palmer have certainly been known to let loose with some (mild IMO) blue humor. I'm not put off by that, but some people might be.

Bottom line is, It's hard to answer that question. You should listen to an episode of each and decide what you like.

I'd suggest listening to the entire catalog of the Jamil Show. Incredibly informative, and I personally was warmed to the bottom of my.. esophagus ..by the banter between Jon and Jamil.

Not adding much new here other than to agree with much of what has been said.

I enjoy Basic Brewing Radio, especially the episodes on the collaborative experiments they do with BYO.

Brew Strong is is very good for information density. They talk about a lot of stuff that I think can really help a lot of brewers, especially new ones who want to learn a lot.

The Sunday Session... what to say about the session. The first episode I listened to, I got about 10 minutes in and my general assessment was "what the f is this nonsense." Lots and lots of random "waffling on" as they freely admit. Then I found their abita brewery podcast, and I'm a huge abita fan, so I suffered through another episode to listen to that interview. And then somewhere in there.... I became a fan. It is now the podcast I listen to the most. I find it highly entertaining. On the flip side, I completely understand when people are annoyed by it. Basically, I don't think there are many people that are nuetral on the session. I think you pretty much love it or hate it. Or, like me, start at hate it and turn into love it. But I don't think there's many people that live in that middle ground.

I think it depends on where you are at in your brewing skill level. I thought Basic Brewing Radio/video was great early on, very ez to follow for a beginer. And I was lost on some of the TBN ones when I first started. Now I try to listen to them all but like the Jamil Show & Brew Stong. However they can get long & off topic so I never listen live so I can fastforward thru all the adam & eve commercials & the off topic rambles.

The Brewing Network can have some informative sessions, but some can be offended by what may be seen as inappropriate comments.

I have been listening to The Sunday Session. Really it's pure entertainment. I have learned some but it's more drunk banter than any information. I also love watching Brewing Tv. If you have an Apple TV, you can watch in the comfort of your living room. I'll have to check out Basic Brewing.

You can check out some of the podcast of Come and Brew It! from Texas Brewing INC. They have uploaded many Home brewing podcast with their blog post. May It will help you.

I’ve listened to a couple of the ones mentioned and not been too interested. Brülosophy on the other hand, I am actually waiting to here the next one. I love how not judgemental those guys are and Jersey and Tim are hilarious.

I would listen to you guys but since there are only 4 computers in Arkansas I don't get many opportunities.

I really dig Brülosophy.

I know some people bang on them because the science isn't perfect on their experiments, but they acknowledge the limitations, and it's cool that they ask questions about homebrewing dogma. The 1 minute beer reviews crack me up.

I second the Brülosophy podcast, for me, a big part of brewing is the science behind the techniques, it may at times be a bit more than the basics but it is like myth busters for home brewers.

Chop & Brew, some of the old BrewingTV, some stuff on TheBrewingNetwork (obviously, as links are in my signature).

I have started watching some Basic Brewing vids. They seem to have fun with it. I question a lot of what they do, but they keep it entertaining.

There are a few watchable CraigTube videos, but I feel like his target audience is made up exclusively of new brewers. Good for him, just not something I want to watch.

I used to listen to Jamils podcast but that was a very long time ago. Not sure who if anyone is worth listening to these days
