Living (relatively) near Germany has a lot of advantages, one of which is that I get German hops much cheaper than other kinds. The disadvantage is that if I'm trying to brew something that uses other kind of hops I spend much more on those batches.

So if I was trying to replace East Kent Goldings and Fuggles to reduce costs, which one of these do you think would best replicate them:
Northern Brewer 11.2%
Traditional 10%
Tettnanger 4.5%
Saaz 2.8%
Pearl 6.7%
Select 5.2%
Nugget 14.4%
Hersbrucker 3.2%
Sapphire 4.9%
Magnum 12.4%

Northern Brewer hops (or descendents) are sometimes used in English beers as a bittering hop, and so certainly wouldn't be out of style for that use.

http://beerlegends.com/hops-varieties might help you decide which of the hops available to you would be closest to your desired characteristics. But don't get too hung up on using the correct hops - experiment!
