Steeping vanilla beans / other spices in various types of alcohol to have "on hand"

Boston round bottles, small jars of baby food, or even 1/2 pint mason jars will be cheaper than yeast vials. Plastic sample vials off amazon are similar to yeast vials and cheaper.

I did something similar with diff types of beans and different liquors. Unspiced rum was great all around. Brandy was good in some pastries, vodka gives you a more normal base for the vanilla. Different regions beans give different flavor too. Indonesia was my favorite of the 5 regions I sampled.
