Can’t find a calculator with my specific grain bill, can anyone help with the calculations. Another issue is the amount of wort. I’m pretty sure I collected 7.25 gallons but according to the marks on my keggle it was 6.75. After boil amount was 5.25 gal with a one hour boil.

7lbs weyermann German pilsner malt
1 lbd weyermann German wheat malt
.5 lbd honey malt

1.037 into boil kettle at either 7.25 or 6.75 ga
1.045 into fermenter at 5.25 gal

I did do a step mash. This recipie is based off of biermunchers krisper kolsh.

brewers friend is typicaly the calculator I use. What grains did you use. Only thing I saw was german pilsner and german pale wheat, and canadian honey malt which gave me 80% which is higher than normal. 75% ish is about normal.

So when figuring efficiency should I be using the volume and gravity that goes into the fermentor, or the volume and and gravity of the bre boil? Just when I think I understand things....

It depends on what type of efficiency you want to calculate.

When people say "my efficiency is". Thats the one I want to figure out, lol. I guess the what makes sense is to figure out how well I am getting the sugar out of my grains. Therefore I would image the numbers that are important are the amount of wort collected during the mash process, and the gravity of that wort.

And that is "the efficiency".

When people talk about what actually makes it to the fermenter, especially if they leave trub and break material behind, that's "Brewhouse efficiency".

My calculation of 75% was for overall efficiency.

Mash efficiency can also be calculated.
