What to do?

What was looking like a great double brew went south quiclky after we lost power near the end of the first boil. We rarely loose power for more than hour so we decided to wait for the power to come back on and then proceed with the chill. Well the power came back on 8 hours later and we had already covered the wort up for the night. My question is, this morning should we go straight to the fermenter or bring the wort to a boil to reduce the possibility of bacteria? If we boil should we transfer to another kettle leaving all the hop particles, etc behind?

I would boil. Granted your IBU's. Are going to be off, but proceed as normal

Unpitched wort is a GREAT bacterial culture; after eight hours, I think that your unboiled wort (this is two batches, right? So one is 90% boiled and the other is 0%?) has already soured a little.

If it were me, I would turn at least the unboiled wort into a sour beer. Go ahead and boil it as normal, but reduce the hop load, and throw in some brett and pedio. See how it turned out a year from now.

We completed the boil and just left it overnight. We decided to tranfer and strain the beer to a different kettle, boil for 10 min, and then proceed as normal. We will see what happens. The name for this brew is now Double Boiled Oktoberfast.
