I recently purchased a kegerator that came with a 5lb CO2 tank and reg. I already had a 10lb tank and reg. Any ideas what to do with the smaller tank and reg? Ideally i'd like to set up my kegerator to be able to run two kegs on different pressures from my 10lb tank. Thoughts on how to do this?

Buy yourself a 2-body secondary regulator

(or more bodies, if you'll ever want to expand).

Keep the 5G tank as part of your portable set-up and as back-up for when the 10G unexpectedly runs out.

that's exactly what I was going to say! I have two 5# tanks, and they come in handy when my 20# goes unexpectedly empty on a long holiday weekend, or when I go to a party and bring the smaller c02 tank and a keg.

To have a second pressure, you need another regulator added, not another tank. One tank is hooked up at a time, with a set up as linked to above.

I use a LOT of CO2 for cleaning lines, charging soda for kids, purging HVAC lines ETC. That is what I recommend, use it for all the stuff you could use it for if it was portable and available.

thanks for the input. my regulator is like those on the link but it has a high pressure connection that would attach to the tank. I'm assuming I can take that off and add a bard to attach to the line from the 10lb tank. Correct?

Disconnect high pressure gauge and attach secondary reg. This is mine

WATCH THE THREADS!!!
Some regs come with left threads some come with right.
You NEED to know your threads before buying a secondary reg
Trying to remember,I "think" the tapright listed is opposite thread and wont work with regular "lefty loosy righty tighty".

When I was getting tanks and regs, the one thing I wanted to ensure is that I have a backup. I bought two 5-pound CO2 tanks so that when one kicks, the other is right there to take over.

If I ever find a good deal on a 10- or 20-pound tank, I'll jump on it. For now, having a single point of failure is unacceptable. Thus, a backup. :)
