ive searched a lot but the results look really dated. I have some really fancy Eurotherm PIDs that I planed on using but the output models that I need for them would be more expensive than a regular PID.

What's the go to PID to use in the HLT for a HERMS system? I have a EZboil for my boil and I like the way that works but I thought I could get something a bit cheaper for the HLT that could do step mashing?

Any suggestions?

what output modules are currently in your Eurotherm?
Analog Output (DC OP), Relay Output or Logic Output?

which (fancy) controllers do you have?

Changeover relay modules in 2408 controllers.

I think I would need a logic output but I'm not sure if I need it to be isolated or not?? If I could go non-isolated then I think I can grab a module on eBay for $25. I haven't seen a isolated logic output module for a reasonable price.

I'm not a guru, but I like to play with them :D

i have a 2404, 2604, 2704, a couple of 3200 series and a 3504 with ethernet connection.
I use DC OP 4-20mA to control a SSVR (basicly a giant light dimmer) to control a potstill.
3 of them to control 3 phase 400v 9kw heating element.
I would like to make a good whisky and for that I need to a brew beer . . . so therefore I'm looking around here :)

Here is my controller

but to come back to your question.
I think a non-isolated logic output will be fine to control a simple SSR
It just needs a DC signal between 3 and 32 volts to work.

That looks legit. I'd really like to try some distilling but need to keep this hobby on the rails.

I ordered the non isolated module. For $25 it's worth trying and not needing to revise any wiring. If that doesn't work I'll just get a cheap PID or temp controller and use these Eurotherm for something else.
