what is this technique or equipment called?

a while ago I was reading upon a technique where you varlauf /sparge into a 2 gallon pot with a mesh bag inside and and it will recirculate and transfer into the boil kettle of course with the help of a pump .I remember reading that big breweries use this technique to make sure the beer comes out clean before reaching the brew kettle but I cannot remember what the hell the technique or equipment is called ...does anyone know ?..this has been driving me nuts for a while and I cannot find that piece of info anywhere anymore.TIA.

Sounds like you might be talking about a Wort Grant with a filter bag in it.

Yeah. Wort grant with either a bag or another false bottom in it. Throw a handful or three of rice hulls in it for more filtering.
