Hi Everyone! I would like to make a batch of 5 g sugar water and ferment it to 18% alcohol. Could someone please tell me how to figure out how much sugar I would need to achieve this? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Something like 11 pounds of sugar.

18% ABV / 1.3125 = .137 OG/FG differential
Ethanol has an SG of .787, so 18% x .787 + 82% x 1.000 = 0.960 FG

.960 + .137 = 1.099 OG

Assuming 100% attenuation*, 99/46ppg = 2.15 lbs/gallon x 5 gallons ~ 11 pounds
*Good luck

By the way, I think this will end poorly.
