I just brewed a Soft Parade clone and after I pitched the yeast and aerated, I took one last look before I wrapped it in a blanket and was shocked to see this. It has receded a bit in the past 15 minutes since I took the picture, but I've never seen anything like that before.

Anyone know what the heck that is?

That is congealing break material mixed with your yeast pitch.
It's all good. Pour yourself a beer and go watch the news for a week or so...

Cheers! :)

Looks like break material from the boil. A lot of proteins and stuff. Don't worry too much, it'll all settle to the bottom. Some think it may actually be decent yeast nutrients as well

It is "cold break", while "hot break" is much finer and looks like egg drop soup.

It's a good thing, and break material are proteins that are coagulated and will fall to the bottom. I get cold break in my fermenter all the time, since I have a counter flow chiller, and the wort chills on its way to the fermenter.
