I didn't handle reading the allrecipes.com comments as well as you; they were a sure-fire way to drive me crazy. Can't people just make the damn dish as written for their first attempt? Once you change it, you're not making it and shouldn't be allowed to rate it.
Then there's the one person out of a hundred on a well-rated recipe, who obviously cannot cook, complains that it didn't come out.
It's been a big beef for me for a long time. It's also why I will never ever expose my recipes to the abuse they would receive on a site like that. I can only shudder what people would do to my French dip recipe--"I substituted shredded bologna because I don't like beef" or "I didn't have any beef stock so I added some salt to water--yummy and hubby really loved it!"
The above is not as angry as it sounds.
