Xmas in July. Received my order from Brewhardware today! I was not happy UPS just left it on the front walkway, didn’t ring the doorbell. At least nobody ran off with it. I’ve got some unpacking to do

Have you tried any of the neomexicanus varieties? I live near the border with Oklahoma and have some Cascade I basically ignore and get a small harvest off of it.

Yes, I bought 1 plant of neo mexicanus last year and it never made it. Only 1 of the cascades I bought last year made it. See photo. I have yet to plant the ones I bought this year. Will get that done this week and let them grow through the rest of the summer and fall. If they don't take I'm done trying to grow hops. I'll harvest the little hops off the one plant and wet hop it in the next batch.

Over the weekend I got this Stainless steel bad boy - a 10 gallon torpedo megamouth with a 1 1/2" triclamp on the lid (hop bong, prv, CIP cleaning etc. thanks @Bobby_M at BrewHardware.com). Going to use it soon to brew a German Pilsner in the ferm chamber. It's tight, but it fits fine. It can also be just as a monster sized corny keg as it also fits inside the keezer. Gonna get used a lot.

First to fellow Canadians;
I bookmarked this as a potential 'next kettle' over a year ago but now, sadly, Goldsteam Homebrewing is going out of business.
https://goldsteam.com/ Visit and see if you can help him clear out his stock.
I've only had a handful of orders with them because they are in BC on the other side of the country, but the service has been the best I've had....even called me once because based on my order the guy knew I hadn't read the description on some on sale parts.
It's been a while since I bought a decent box for my cat so I finally got him a new one.

The 'packaging material' for the box included my new 'compromise kettle';

and the included trappings;

..really nice looking thermometer...shame I'm not gonna install it..
I call it my 'compromise kettle' because I can't afford my 'ideal' and these are my compromises: TC cavity for the heating element, welded port for a thermometer that I won't install because it'll only rip up a brew-bag, 201 SS rather than 304 but since it'll never see flame and be on it's own stand and not handled much that's OK.
I'll be fitting a 1.5" TC port up near the rim for a steam condenser but not sure wether that'll be a weldless bulkehead or welded yet. Now it's time to place a long planned order with Bobby and get these:
