Case law says yes. This is from NZ, but I've seen similar in the US.

I say yes.

Would they allow you to call out sick if you made other poor consumption decision?

Such as eating at a local greasy spoon that turns to rot gut? Of course they would.

Unable to work is unable to work.

The best excuse is always: "It's a stomach thing, I'll spare you the details. Should be back next business day." End of story.

did u get any of this years bba imperial myan mocha stouts? Me no. I did get some last year still have a bottle, I was really looking forward to it as I love myan mocha stout but the bba version had almost zero bourbon barrel taste, just wondered if this years was any better.

I have 3. I got a 4 pack and sent one in a thank you box. Have not drank one yet. Gonna crack one fairly soon.

Honestly, I will admit. When I call out I usually just leave it as "I am not going to make it to work today" and let them take from it what they will.

As a Supervisor, I'm fine with thus. I have an over sharer, and I always tell him to just stop.

OTOH, my boss has to have a detailed reason and whether or not I'll be reachable.

Sweet hopefully it has more bourbon barrel character this year I think it'd be an awesome beer if they can manage that. This HTV is killer I've had it once on draft at the brewery and it's a really nice beer and no trace of the 9% abv.

Are you going Black Friday? I've never had Hipster Brunch before, gonna try to go and get a case this year. Depends on the house sale situation. Even if a full case is a no go I might head down there and get a 4 pack and a draft.

Prob not. Best I may do is hit up a bottle shop and wait for bourbon county that day. Grand haven is about a 2 hr trip from Lansing, I'd be in for a trade if u get some, I'd love to try that stuff if you get enough to trade that is.

Glad to hear everybody was alright. That situation reminds me of a TPB episode. F*cking way she goes boys.

Not enough TPB references on HBT for my taste. That episode was exactly what I thought of when reading @onetoedogbrewery 's description of events.

I guess it's just

What did u think of the dragons milk reserve this year. I got the triple mashed and pepper version. Missed the chocolate coffe which is the one I really wanted and I wasn't interested in the raspberry. The triple mashed was like syrup, so thick I have one more left and the pepper version was good better than the initial release last year which was over the top spicy, still have a bottle of that left I might need to revisit to see if the heat died down a little.

****in way she goes Rick.

2 backwoods bastards and a few HBs and a few Miller Lites. The worst of all BMC ever.

****ing handshaking for the past 4 hrs. Good ol boys love to shake hands and say each other's names.

I agree. I remember going thru training / HR class many years ago and the case involved a guy who told his boss on Friday he would be out sick on Monday. Daughter's wedding was on Sunday. In no shape to be in office on Monday. Company fought it in court ( or maybe arbitration) and decision was he couldn't work due to 'illness', even if self inflicted, so they had to pay the time off.

Better than hobbit toes.

The dreaded overly long, sub-eternal handshake duration conundrum.

Do you
a) keep the shake going with equal vigour as your likely octogenarian/septuagenarian counterpart and continue the vicious cycle

b) attempt early exit from said handshake and risk appearing weak as wet snot owing to your suddenly flaccid grip.

c) deliver a rambunctious back-slap and guffaw and proceed with aplomb to the next eager handshakee.

OT: Red Wine

You win for two reasons... Exact explanation of the current situation, and apple cizzinamon. Sayin?

Overly tight hand squeeze. Works every time

These dudes have old man strength to the farmer power. I'm not saying I can't hang, but they will meet your challenge, and they expect a battle from the start.

'Merica! **** yeah.

Exact explanation of the current situation, .

Winning!! Oh no, we don't say that anymore, sorry. Too soon?

OT: I believe it was a French apple cizzinamon from the Loire valley.

Is wine even allowed in this thread? Don't think I've yet seen a glass of vino in the thread. Should I self report now and get it over with?

Plenty of women drink wine, feel free to have your wife post up some pics.

:D

Opened a bottle of my "There Gose Sea Breeze" at room temp., ...been in the bottles 8 or 9 days. Gushed a little...very fizzy. I rushed it a bit for Thanksgiving...prolly could've used more time in secondary. We'll see how it is next week, thoroughly chilled. The color has a nice, light cranberry look from the hibiscus, and the flavor has a light touch of salt with a tart finish. I think it will be quite drinkable...just have to open carefully and cross the fingers!

Real ale lost gold. The bottle is a bit old, but still good. Nice to have a beer after work before bed. That's two 16 hour days in a row

I nipped that in the bud when I have my boss a VERY detailed description of the gastrointestinal issue that kept me home many, many years ago. He accepted my 'not feeling well' excuse after that.

With my minions, my policy is that you just need to let me know that you are not well, but don't abuse it.

Café. This day needs to be over already.

Happy birthday @DrunkleJon !

Water. TGIF! Why isn't this day over yet?!

Thank you. Ugh. What he said.

Oversharing is a great way to cure asking for too much information. That is that best policy. So long as the work gets done all is well. Bastard coworker who has been under the weather all week finally called out for today. Today is going to suck.

Cool I'll keep it in mind.

I have all of them except raspberry. Didn't appeal to me so I didn't buy that one. I've only drank the chocolate/coffee so far. I really liked it. I had all the one-off drafts on Halloween at the sidecar. Favorite was Mocha.

I like to do that thing where you tickle their palm with your middle finger while mid shake. I have small hands, so the overly tight & squeeze doesn't work for me too well. and people like to squeeze my T-Rex hands.

on the qwuhffeh.

hahaha i do this to, you have to be particular on who you do this to tho.

coffee - friday. even though im working sat and sun, and all the way till next sat. its still friday, let me have this.

fact! some people get really offended. but hey Brony, don't squeeze my hand to show me how tough you are! I jabbed one guy at a punk show for doing that. some fresh cut skin. what really ticked me off about it was his arrogant posture while doing it. head upright, chin up and slightly cocked to the side, eyes closed down just a bit, shoulders back, chest out, looking downward at me slightly to the side, and the 'getting away with something' grin. it was one of those over squeeze & roll handshakes. I get it, fresh cut. you put on a Ben Sherman and cropped your hair. toughness.

That one works. How about the two hand shake. You know where the right does the standard shake and the left gently cups their hand and traps it so its like hand holding. Really uncomfortable feeling.

Second cup of coffee almost done. I am not sure if I am somehow not hungover or just still a little drunk this morning.

ever have anyone do the elbow variation of that one?

Finishing second cup after finishing the last bottle of Old Rasputin RIS last night while putting together another " The Driver's Eye" vid last night...burp...:drunk:
