more coffee. Oh, and ...

So... This is happening.
The 2012 was the best, followed by the 2014, and then the 2013. There's a weird green apple off flavor in the 2013 that never aged out. 2014 doesn't have it. It was a pretty good tasting.

Coffee- third cup, after a 4 day weekend and 3 christmas parties in a row i am still feeling a bit rough- back to work for just today then off till the 2nd... today will not be productive to say the least

Lots of coffee. Work starts with a lot of driving today. I kept going on the gumballhead well after the phone died last night. Had a cigar with the boss and feel a little rough.

I pounded blue dolphins all day yesterday. I feel just as bad today. more water and no beer again for ol' Klubby. and I don't get to go to the company Christmas party tonight.

I'm with you again. But I think I'm going to an instacare to get some stuff. I just coughed up a phlegm lump that looked like a hop pellet.

Nice. That's what I should do but working.... still sick.
****ing heater took a dump yesterday. Was 54 degrees in my house this morning.

Coffee #2 at work. Damn computer program isn't working properly either today.

I got screwed this year at dixie. People reviewed my beer wrong. Had a Master Judge say my beer was infected and it was a Brett Saison....

What category? 23 was a bit of a pain this year. Had the other judging pair with a complete noob in the category and an experienced judge that was on his third session. They judged a friend's sour stout the same way (yeah, it's supposed to be 'infected'). I felt horrible for him after the fact.

Coffee.

Community dark roast. No sugar, no cream just like every morning. We are having family stay over this weekend so I skipped the chicory this time. It's purty good coffee either way.

Like a sour green apple jolly rancher? You, my friend, just met Mr. Acetaldehyde.

I just put a dash of 2% milk in mine. When I was drinking it black, the hygienist kept nagging me about staining.

They need to get more experience people to judge. My Sour stout comments was "Not enough body to be a stout. More of a Porter" Really? Its a ****ing SOUR!!! stout. It has little to no body because its sour. Most of my beers were rated by morons. I gave it to my friends that run a local brewery and they said the same thing. One thing pissed me off is that one foamranger won ~10 golds. I think they play favorites and most do not know how to judge beers.

Also the "medal" was cheap and ****ing stupid...

Haha, after the first one, I would have been happy to trade the other three. It was good, just underwhelming.

Is it not available around you?

Sorry - wrong post was quoted there. We do get Birra hear and I agree, it's just okay.

So, this is the one I'd like to set-up a trade centered around. @nukebrewer let me know if you're up for a trade next month ...

One more coffee that I will probably regret tonight. Oh well, if I'm not tired I'll just drink more beer I guess! ;)

I don't think they necessarily play favorites, but most of the guys that win a lot are basically shotgunning. They're entering so many beers that they're bound to win something (I know Jeff Reilly from Houston and Mark Schoppe from Austin each entered at least 50). That being said, the Foam Rangers hang out and brew together, so they're going to be familiar with the other guys' tastes, so can game the system that way.

I think the specialty styles suffer the most in judging because of how they assign flights. In other words, they don't. When you're ready to judge, they give you your pick of the available queued styles that you're not entered in. The specialty styles (specifically SHV and 23) almost always go last since not many judges want to judge them. Then, you're gambling that the judges are going to know the style of your beer well enough to judge it right. That's really why I typically don't enter 23. I had to explain to the other pair what they should be looking for in a Gose, and this was with relatively high-ranked judges.

This year was definitely sad from that perspective. The glasses they were supposed to be giving were mixed up in shipping and they wound up receiving some dude's souvenir birthday coffee mugs, and they apparently couldn't get it straightened out.

More coff.

That is exactly the reason why I will never have any of my beer entered into a beer competition. I really brew the **** for myself and other HBTs as well as some of my friends. But mainly for me. And not some snarky judges.

Anyone want to wait in line for 10 hours today? :D

NEBCO: bourbon barrel aged stout trooper available. 375 ml bottles, 4 per person

I entered a lot this year but i do not brew to style and if you want to win you have to brew to style only. I just get upset on the stupidity on the judging sheet. Most does not make sense and obviously do not know the style or beer in general and does not help me in any way. One judge said on my other brett beer is make sure to clean your pumps and plate chiller specifically... I do not have those and why suggest them.. I understand equipment but in the title and description i spelled out what it is and these judges did not read or care
