Had to make some room in the keg of German pils for appropriate carbonation. At least that's what I am telling myself. I'll just call it a Kellerbier for the next couple of weeks.

Happy 4th of July - I picked up a half rack of American beer, Budweiser.

Only one problem, what the heck is wrong with these bottles? Really coming off weird with my bottle opener….

Ah twist off bottles! Tells you how out of touch you can get drinking all this craft and import beer. I wasn’t even THINKING twist off! Enjoy!

Happy Independence Day!
HM ginger beer. The latest batch since I couldn't find the previous one in all the moving disorder. This has a couple of pounds of wheat DME and a pound of table sugar in a 3 gallon batch. Body is much improved from all sugar but now wish I'd used all DME. Tasty, though.

Left at 4am, got to our first stop on the way to obx, they start serving at 10am, pulled in at 10:08 live music started at 11am.. I really love this trip, been doing this family vacation for 10 years now. Even with the coming "tropical depression" it will be hard to keep me out of the ocean, so relaxing.

Well here we are Saturday, a day after the 4th of July. Partygoers around the country are drinking beer and eating everything from chips and bean dip to hamburgers, hot dogs and BBQ.

The Beermeister32 clan is spread out all across the country. I was given a heads up for an interesting brew from Beer-Loving Daughter #3 from one of her favorite ale houses – Wise Man Brewing out of North Carolina. Even though she made the trek to Michigan to search out cooler weather for the holiday, she appears to have brought along some of the oddities of North Carolina rather than imbibing in the local brew, like Bells Two Hearted IPA!

So I’m drinking Michigan brew in California. She’s in Michigan but drinking North Carolina brew from her home town of Winston-Salem. Of course!

So I guess it’s a Tale of Two Cities, er, a Tale of Two Brews! One of which I’m really familiar with - Bell’s makes a terrific and predictable 7% ABV “American IPA” whatever that is. To me it shares more West-Coast hopping and clarity characteristics than a Fuzzy-Fruity-Muddy NE brew. Obviously, she must have been showing off the North Carolina brew to the folks in Michigan, but really? Love Paradox is well named - White Stout with White Chocolate and Coffee? Has it really come to this??? 5.1% ABV, 24 IBU, Love Paradox is a golden color brew that answers some of those paradoxical questions, but like “Real Love,” can really keep ya guessing! Go Blue!
