I’ve probably drank more Coors Light than any other beer out there. As self-professed beer aficionados, it’s often somehow looked down upon a bit drinking American light Lagers. I have to say though, a lot of us are just beer fans to start with, even before we learned how to make beer. We were there all along, before there was a craft beer movement, we enjoyed beer. We enjoyed craft brew, and imports, and brewing beer. We enjoy following all the new directions in beer. Historically, we like the old beer stories and the hundreds or thousands of years of development, the breweries, the Monks and the whole thing. Beer is fun!
In restaurants, I still drink a lot of light beer and usually have some around the house. These days, I mostly trend towards German Lagers and West Coast IPAs, but I love them all, including a lot of light beer. Coors Light has filled that role more than any for me the past 20 years.
These comparison beer weeks are a really good exercise – good for re-testing your knowledge and pre-conceived notions about beers. A couple days back, I was drinking a Miller Lite here. Miller was my go-to light beer before acquiring a taste for Coors Light. They are both remarkable beers, as anyone who has TRIED to duplicate a light Lager can attest. They are VERY difficult to emulate – any little flaw comes right through.
I think I’m going to go back and grab some more Miller Lite and Coors Light, and do a heads-up comparison. I enjoy both of these lights immensely, but after drinking the Miller Lite a couple days back it has me questioning my preference and beer memory. I really enjoyed that Miller Lite. Almost to the point that the Coors Light is coming up as a touch apple or fruity to my palette. We can’t have that! A Miller-Coors dual is in the upcoming, stay tuned!
