A Bixby Blonde!! I’ve never had this beer before, but I saw it on the shelf at my local shop and I had the get it. Really takes me back. 😉

Tecate is another easy drinking Mexican Lager, 4.5% ABV brewed by Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma in Monterrey, Mexico, now a part of Heineken International. I squeezed those lime wedges into the brew while writing this.

I was talking to a friend of mine who used to drink a lot of beer here in SoCal. He’s down to maybe two beers a day now due to some medical issues, but back in the day, he was pounding down about 24 cans a day on his construction sites. They were using it to stay hydrated rather than water!

Actually beer is somewhat of a diuretic right? More you drink, the more it dries you out! Maybe that’s why they were drinking so much, constantly trying to hydrate while the beer was taking them in the opposite direction.... Talk about chasing your tail!

I have to admit, drinking a lot of these Mexican brews makes me understand that. They drink very easily and at 4.5% ABV, you aren’t going to get all that lit from them either. Sort of like a substitute for water in some ways. I guess if I was in Mexico, I’d rather drink these than the water too!

Some all day while roasting coffee, did 1lb of Tanzanian peaberry and half a pound of a sample pack of Honduran.

How does that Gene Cafe stack up against the Behmor? The Gene is only a little more expensive.

I'm still roasting with a heat gun, but considering a roaster that won't break the bank.
 
Bottled a batch of the appartment brewers belgian quad today and was sorting through my cartons of bottles for empies and found a handfull of mixed berry ciders I made last summer.

Was damn good. I really need to get going with that cider kit I have sitting so I have some ready for this summer.
 
Almost picked this up today. I'll have to give it a try.
Tully is a good nothing fancy Irish whiskey. Love it with a single ice cube. I rotate it with Jameson as my house Irish.

Night cap. Equal parts, a splash each, of 3 different bourbons. Wild Turkey 81 (not 101), Evan Williams Black Label, and Wolcott. What’s on the bar right now.

That thing looks like a space age shop vac!! I need to get a roaster. Im really liking the home roasted I've been gifted recently.

On topic:

HB hefeweizen in the wrong glass while I steep grains for a batch of graff. Haven't made graff in years but I got a few gallons of decent cider and had the grains so why not right!! Had to use my griddle as my hotplate took a crap in me.

I brewed that last year using his chemistry. One of the best! 🍻
 
Brewed a version of Schlenkerla marzen a year or more ago and found a crate lurking around. It had lost its edge and was beginning to taste a bit "meaty" without being "off" in any way.
Needing to make a decision whether to drink it or dump it, I added a shot of lime cordial to my pint. Loved the first few mouthfuls, but couldn't finish the pint. Rauchbier and lime would have the ancients of Bamberg turning in their graves if they found out.

.... the five year mission of An Ankoù.
To seek out strange new beers.
To boldly drink what no man has drunk before.
