First proper sample of my English Pale. It needs more time to clarify (though it's well on the way), but tastes exactly how I wanted it to.

Picked up the Firestone Into the Haze mixpack. I love me some hazies, but brewing one is a bit out of my wheelhouse. Trying the tropical.

Well, here we go again, another “Festbier” and yes it’s a Murkster! Yesterday I was moaning and grumbling about these quasi-German brews available from domestic brewers here in California. Ladies and Gentlemen, what is the issue here? A Festbier is supposed to be somewhat lighter and more easily drinkable than a Märzenbier, CRYSTAL CLEAR, deep straw color, white puffy head, dry enough to be completely glugged, gulped and chugged in HUGE volumes…… Festbier!
What we have here is another murky, headless, too “orangy” color, lacing-less, too sweet, lower carbonation Märzen. Looks a lot like yesterday’s Murkster. Brewer is East Brother Beer Company, Richmond, California.
So if you’re looking for a little action with a 5.8% ABV brew to get lit up tonight, drink up! Drink another! If you’re looking for a Festbier, look elsewhere….

Last week tee times were cancelled because of two days of snow. This morning? 32° frost delay and now 82° and humid.

Finally, my Grodziskie has completely cleared. It only took 3 months on tap...I didn't think a 100% wheat beer had a chance. It's even clearer than the picture shows. And an easy drinking, lightly smoked beer, flavor-wise. Cheers!
Same photo as yesterday, new bottle.
Spotted this sake at Rouses grocery and decided to give it a try. No idea if this is a "good" brand because I haven't had much sake but it was the only one they had. Had it both chilled and warmed to the "traditional" temperature of 105*F according to the label. Enjoyed both, maybe prefer the warmed for its more floral character. 15.6%

Last night we sat up until 1:30am "tasting" the things I've made in the past couple months.
Strait honey mead, dryhopped mead, cinnemon mead, espresso mead, mango wine, grape wine.

Looks like we have a partially frozen Festbier here! ‘Gotta be careful what these cans touch in the expansive and temperature controlled Beermeister32 Bierhoard!
Hüftgold is another SoCal Festbier – THIS TIME IT’S RIGHT ON! Color is perfect, flavor is true to form. It really is amazing how you can really nail a style if you are paying attention to the little details.
El Segundo brewing, located (where else) in El Segundo, California brews Hüftgold as a seasonal brew for the Oktoberfest celebration. 5.8% ABV, perfect deep straw color, perfect hopping, nice head (once the ice recedes a bit!) great lacing. The can says it’ll have you doing a Zwiefachter faster that you can say “Quietsheentchen.” This one is a chugger! Prost!

The first beer was my last from lunch in NYC last week. Now home with some Aurora beer while preparing food.
Smoked some cod for fish tacos and now prepping grill for shrimp for son's BD.
