Apparently, I'm a natural at grilling shrimp. A hit but the smoked cod needs work.

I could see where smoking cod would be difficult. Im a salt/pepper/oil/hot pan kind of guy where that never goes wrong.

If you want to go healthy and crazy easy do fish en papillote. Fish wrapped in waxed paper. Yea. You smell up the house a bit Some herbs, capers and lemons are a must. Any other type of vegetable inside the wax paper comes out great. Especially grape tomatoes. I'm sure you could do something similar on the grill with maybe added smokiness. They got those tin foil wraps.

Noooow if you want to go carb crazy. Ritz cracker cod.

From the land of cod

Dammit... that reminds me of a bad situation I had 40 years ago when I lived in Hawaii. I grabbed the first 2 things I could get my hands on in the liquor store.... Seagrams Gin and Pepsi... NASTY, and I still can't touch either to this day...

This was a first attempt. The cod hit 145 super fast so not much smoke and I didn't season it too much. People didn't complain so it's just me talking. Thanks for the advice man!

My missing PhP glass showed up out of nowhere. HB IPA

Well, NO, you don’t mix gin with Pepsi. You need some Vermouth. Or tonic water. No cola, please

Almananc Brewing, Alameda, California brews up their version of a 5% ABV Festbier, “Rocktoberfest.” Sounding more like a late-night, head-banging metal concert over your local FM radio station, Rocktoberfest is a very nice tasting brew. Rocktoberfest features Weyermann Barke Pilsner, Munich and CaraMunich malts. Says so right on the can!

Like many before it, this doesn’t really fit the visual profile of a Festbier. Primarily, and again it is the wrong color, it should be a perfectly clear, deep straw color, white puffy head with beautiful lacing. It is different…..

Again taste is very nice here, and not at all cloying like a few others I’ve had this week. This one is a little cloudy, orange colored, lack of head, and zero lacing. Maybe back off on the CaraMunich. So, on the Beermeister32 finally tally, points go for a delicious beer. No points given for optics, send somebody to German beer school already! It is tasty… Prost!

The good stuff. I really like this beer. Remember the first time I had this in Traverse City, MI after drinking only Schlitz, Bud, Miller, etc. in MS. Fell in love with it, didn't know that (some) beer could taste this good.

Some folks chase Guinness, others Pliny, or maybe the perfect Helles, or a local IPA. That right there is my white whale.
