This one is more of a “What Are You Drinking Out Of?” post.

Years ago after my grandfather had passed away and my grandmother moved in to my parents place, I acquired a set of beer glasses that were going to go away if I didn’t want them. They were my grandfathers, but were still in the original box and probably never used.

With my current move I rediscovered the box and I’ve decided to actually use them.

They are Coors glasses with an old interlocking A and C logo and A Coors signature. I’m sure these were some promotional product or giveaway with saved up proof of purchase.

They are hexagonal but have an almost faux wood texture to them. The stem is a little chunky but also hexagonal and sturdy. The glass will also produce a clear tone when you run your wet finger around the rim!

I’m guessing it’s from sometime in the 60’s. Anyone have any better idea?

My fridge is currently out of the Banquet Beer from Golden Colorado, so Chico’s finest will have to do for the inaugural beer.

I think I need to find some of the stubby bottles of Coors and recreate some ad from the 60’s! 😆

Here’s one new to me. Ettaler Edel-Hell, produced by Monastery Kloster Etter, since 1330.

Well the name means this is the good stuff. A 5.2% ABV Helles, how can you go wrong? Well at least I get another nifty Ayinger type bottle to re-use, one of my fav’s. Oh the beer? Back to Sunday School fellas, this is as footy a Helles as you are going to find. Maybe it's the shipping supply chain mishandling at fault, it's a long way from there to here. Anyway, makes me pray alright. Pray I don’t have to drink another! Nicht sehr gut!

We just call them "Standard Euroflaschen" ;)
... they're mostly connected here to Augustiner and Tegernseer. Lot of the other breweries use the NRW bottle...

What I drank - been to Porto, Portugal, and had a visit to a local brewery Nor Tada right next door. Of course we shared the tasting trays there with all the available brews from tap:
Lager, Märzen, Vienna Lager, IPA,
Quadrupel, Dark Lager, Imperial Stout and a local Cider.
Liked the IPA and the stout the most.

After paying I got an invitation to visit (but don't touch anything!!) the tasting room.

Got a planetary camera to play with for xmas, first decent night since so gave it a go with the telescope tonight, 25f degrees out tonight so it was chilly but got some good images for my first attempt, learning the stacking and processing end of it while having an all day ipa.

Thanks man! The dedicated planetary camera is a ZWO ASI678MC attached to my 9.25 SCT I took (5) 1 minute videos with it that captured at 33 frames per second so each video took 1980 ish frames, put that into a stacking program and stacked 50% of the best frames of each then play around with contrast and sharpening, still got a lot to learn and want to get some of its moons in the next one and maybe the grs.

Edit: OT ... water.

No alcohol today for Beermeister32. So I was at an industry tradeshow the week before last and must have shaken about 200 boogery hands…. then summarily crammed in a 100% full plane full of disgusting, damp, coughing things loosely called “humans.” Eck.

Back in the Covid days, everybody was doing arm-bumps and hand sanitizing. All that’s been tossed out the window it seems and everyone is back to their nasty old habits. The upshot is, I received one heck of a chest cold. I was suffering much of last week and last weekend was the worst.

The Doc cleared me of flu and Covid, gave me a precursory check and more detailed X-Ray - just the “Crud in the Lungs” so I’m on an antibiotic. This means no beer for a few days…. Rats!

That’s OK, back to my old diet beer favorite Budweiser Zero.

So today, I’m making a “Silk Purse out of a Sow’s Ear” so to speak…. Let’s step back and take a look at how beautiful a zero alcohol brew can be…. and look forward to better days in the future when I can enjoy my liquid indulgence!

If you maintain a low level of alcohol in the blood stream, it'll kill off any germs...fact! 😉
