Mead the elixir of the Gods? Me thinketh not! It has to be Bavarian Pilsner…. Er, I mean Austrian Pilsner! Same diff….! Made in Berkeley, what gives???

I’ve drank a few Trumer Pilsners here before. IMHO, this is the top Pilsner produced in the US, 18 medals can’t be wrong, eh? I had the opportunity to visit Trumer at their Berkeley location with my beer-drinking progeny. Hey, the family that drinks together, stays together!

This shop is truly Best in Class, making a variety of South German/Austrian beer styles, mostly lagers.

Next best thing to getting this 4.9% ABV Pils in a 19.2 ounce stovepipe is having a 21 ounce glass to put it all in! Great thing about a big glass is you don’t have to waste valuable drinking time slowly sipping out of the aluminum can pop-top opening. You can dump in a full mouthful, like Pronto! Yeah Baby! Prost!

I've read one can let a Pediococcus "infection" run its course and the beer will go from ropy to "not ropy" in the end - and apparently can be enjoyed. I'd have to be already buzzed to get past the whole Peeds thing though

Cheers!
Who doesn't love drinking stinky feet?? 🤔

OT, coffeffee

I was spending a lot of time in the Bay Area the year the 49ers failed to do the Super Bowl Three-Peat. Maybe the pro team of my youth, the K.C. Chiefs, can finally get the job done.

Despite a ton of serious injuries, and a few mediocre game day performances by some of the stalwarts of the team (lookin’ at you, Kelce), the 6-0 team still has been getting the job done against some tough opponents.

J. Geils Band has long been one of my favorites. Big during my high school and college days. Bloodshot is a spectacular album, btw. Still listen to them a lot, never gets old. Cool that you got to run into Geils.

They use to play in my hometown that was known for biker bars. I played once with my high school sax teacher in this bar. I may have been 15. I don't think it was my baritone playing but for the young guy breaking down the stage and packing the van :)

Uhh, I just won the Superbowl... duh! 😁 I actually never followed NFL much since I worked Sundays forever. It's only been the last 18 months I'm working the other half of the week and have Sundays off now. I'm burning a lot of vacation to get Saturdays off to watch NCAA football though. Wife doesn't understand why I'm not saving it for family stuff...some people just don't understand. 😉

Upping the game with this 13.6%er.

While we're talking music. Back in Santa Cruz (1990-94) wife and I used to eat lunch at this Mexican restaurant that had a grand piano. After a couple margaritas, I get on play some Billy Joel or Elton John, just stuff I'd fart around with as I was always a classical fan. I'd empty the kitchen and all the waitresses would come out to listen. One said I played better then the dude they pay on Friday nights. Good memories. Making people happy is every performing arts personal goal. 🍻

I consider myself a fairly capable person but this is not what I do, it's not in my wheelhouse but I'm not about to pay someone for something I can struggle through and accomplish on my own. Well my kids might have learned a new word or 2 by the time I got done but it's fixed. The thing would beep randomly ten times, I read about it, replace this or replace that... well I just decided to take it apart and heat the solder that held the speaker on and removed that annoying little pos, long story short... I WIN!! And to celebrate I had a beer.

You’d think that dieting would mean no beer. Well, sometimes it means no beer, sometimes it means cutting it back a bit with Coors light. Sometimes dieting means blending back a lighter beer with a heavier beer, like the delicious Sierra Nevada I’m sipping on today. I still haven’t figured out how drinking TWO beers is somehow diet beer, but I’m working on it!

Actually, I’ve two-fisted brewskies before, yes sir! The real culprits were both beer AND wine - I was doing a convention back in the most dangerous city in America, Baltimore, Maryland. The only reason I can think I was there is they got the convention center cheap! Nearly got a brick thrown into my windshield, but that’s another story.

Anyway, back to the fine art of two-fisting it – Yes, a pint of heavy amber ale in the left hand and a great big oversize glass of Cabernet Sauvignon in the right! Multiple times! Two fisting it! Purple Haze! And one of our vendors paying for it all. YEAH!!!!

Needless to say some of us were a little woozy the next morning, blaming it on the jumbo shrimp. Not your Beermeister32 though. Locked and loaded, and ready to do it all over again! Don’t travel in planes back home with lightweight drinkers though, that’s a tale for another day….!

Another "broaden my beer horizons" buy from Good People, a Birmingham brewery. Tropical fruit, citrus, grapefruit, a touch of sweetness, medium to full mouth feel. Lots of hops action without much bitterness, 6.9%. Pretty tasty beer; I'm not a hazy IPA guy but I'd drink this again.
