Nice brew at troegs

It was a dude at work that made me and my dad one back in 2011. He was the first to introduce me to Bitcoin. Said I should just buy and hold, see what happens...it was $1. Now I just want to drink more...
I thought $65 for beaver wasn't too bad until I looked up castoreum! For such a small bottle and $64? Making it $5 would even put an interesting spin on it. Still a hard pass no. NH freaks!View attachment 854777

Almost got a 6er of that, but ended up with this...it's no slouch...Hot summer sun requires IPA - lots and lots of IPA! What better hoppy thirst quencher than Firestone-Walker’s Union Jack!
7 % ABV, three “C” hops in the boil, a dry hopping with four more, plus Amarillo and Simcoe. Easy to drink - Have a bunch of these and you’ll need to Uber it back to your pad… It’s a classic!

Bitburger is my favorite commercial German Pils. I've tried a few times to clone it but haven't gotten it, I believe they use a specific hop only grown by them.Radeberger vs Bitburger – Wow, has there ever been a closer match up than these two? Sort of like a weigh-in for that high school wrestling match – these two are in the same class!
Bitburger – really a fantastic German Pilsner – 4.8% ABV, hopping 23 IBU, continental hops. Produced in where else? Bitburg Germany, in the North near the Luxembourg/Belgium borders, since 1817.
Funny thing - looks like they are using the iconic Student Prince image in their marketing – funny, that was also used back in the day by Columbia/Heidelberg Brewing in Tacoma, near my hometown of Olympia. I remember one time Dad found one heck of a deal on Heidelberg and brought back a couple cases. We were drinking Heidelberg! That was walking on thin ice – some of our family had worked at hometown Olympia Brewery!
Radeburger – again a fantastic German Pilsner. Radeberger has been kicking around since 1872 in where else? Radeberg, Germany! More hometown brewers, I love it! Another Northern brew, this one is close to the town of Dresden and the nearby Czech border. Again, 4.8% ABV, but this time 33 IBU - continental hops as you would expect.
I raised both glasses up to my mouth, pivoting on my elbows and dumped them in, A & B! One of my favorite things to do! Honestly I cannot tell the difference between these two, even despite the 10 point IBU difference. I mean, these are REALLY right on! I can’t tell the diff, and I taste a LOT of brews, these are great examples of German Pilsner! Delicious! Prost!

IMO Firestone Walker has only kind of nibbled around the edges of the hazy/juicy ipa style without making much of a splash, at least as far as the beers I've tried. And I live only about a 40 minute drive from the brewery, so I have access to not only their national and regional offerings, but also their one-off brewery-only releases. I do really enjoy Double Mind Haze though. But my go-to FW beers are their barrel-aged strong ales - Parabola, Sucaba, Anniversary, etc.I've been in a Firestone-Walker mood this week. Their Union Jack was terrific. Today I cruise on over to their "Juicy West Coast IPA" Cali Cruiser, 6.6% ABV. For the rest of you out there outside of California, well, heck here too - this week Cali is short for Calcified, becase I suspect something happened to the canning or filtration system lines - check out all the suspended yeast. I'm even giving you a video of it. Wow, for Firestone Walker? I am depressed, these guys are one of my favorites. I forget, I may have received this beer free for buying a sack of potatoes, let me go check my receipt.....
Taste is OK, I think I'd prefer another Union Jack or an 805 though. "Juicy" is usually reserved more for NEIPAs, not Westies - plus this one is a bit cloudy by West Coast IPA standards. Not much head, I'm trying to figure this beast out. I'm not getting too much "Juice". Decent IPA, buy their Union Jack though. There's now a lot of yeast in the bottom of my glass, I think I'll pass on that last big gulp. Enjoy.....
