My Dark Rider. A milk stout that was a new recipe for me. I really like how it turned out.

Image was AI generated, then I added the text in photoshop

Those of you who know me will agree – I’m a bona-fide antique and history nut. That’s why I got so excited when I found this LAST AND FINAL Mission beer!

What’s great is that this is a re-make of the classic 1913 recipe brewed at the original Mission Brewery. That’s right, this is a PRE-PROHIBITION lager! It’s like taking a trip into our “Brewing Past”, San Diego-style! Going down Mission Memory Lane!

Old Mission Lager is a respectable 4.5% ABV, 10 IBU beer, which was very typical for the time (still is on many styles.) Perfect for quenching your thirst after coming in shipboard to the San Diego port, or after a day of digging through the San Diego hillsides with pick and shovel. Just what the Brewmeister ordered!

This really is a great, drinkable lager. I’d like to thank Mission Brewing for taking this on. I’d like to see a lot of other brewers in the country take a stab at re-creating some of the other fine beers in our country’s past. It’s what our Great-Grandparents drank!

Yeah, nice job on the label (I know, AI did some of the heavy lifting). But the concept is cool. I've been noodling a bit on CoPilot, and there's a thread where people post their images.

BTW, your username kinda checks out. :)
I've been using MagicShot because it was being offered for free a few weeks ago. It's kinda cool, but sometimes the images are just way out there.

They brought back 34 beers from various breweries. What a surprise and grateful too!
These are just a few of what they brought back.
At least they didn’t bring back a bunch of banquet and keystones.😎

Due to last year's truncated brewing season, I've been jonesing for a bitter. So I decided to steal a march on the '24 UK brewing season and, with the aid of the Whitbread dry strain, I've fired up my UK brewing season in July.

I kegged the first batch, a 1.040 ordinary, this afternoon. It's not my best work because I designed it to be guzzle-able in August, but it scratches the itch. The recipe is dead simple: Otter, my #2 invert, Bramling Cross, EKGs and Imperial's Whitbread dry strain.

I'm really impressed with the Whitbread dry strain. I haven't used it in years because I decided it was a bit milquetoast* compared to Fuller's or the T. Taylor strains, but it's getting the job done in this ale. There's no mistaking this ale for anything other than a UK-style ale. I'm wondering if my much improved O2 mitigation is placing the strain in a better light? More likely, I'm just desperate for a bitter fix.

*Edit: Upon reflection, I think only White Labs had a widely available version of the strain when I last used it and it's been my experience that they tend to deploy the best science available to suck the soul out of most of the strains they touch. So maybe it's a White Labs thing?

HB IPA.
I was going to fill a few bottles of this to take to the little homebrew judging contest at my county fair on Saturday, but got 2/3 of the first bottle filled and my keg blew foam.🙁
I’m really behind on brewing!!! I only have a few pints left of HB Pilsner and I’ll be dry.

August is the worst month of the year. I can't help but think that, as brewers, if we all banded together we could make a positive change and have August skipped.

Going straight into September would make the world a better place.

But when would we brew our Oktoberfest beers? 😉

There might be days when I would agree to that hahah.. but a hard no.
Fair enough, I recognize that you're an experienced negotiator.

What about the hat? It's fetching. I also have an unmarked 3/4lb of hops that have been living in my freezer for at least eight years, if that sweetens the deal.
