Mrs. Stout doesn't drink beer very often, but today was a beer day for both of us, after a few hours trimming the dogwoods that were getting way out of control. Now we can enjoy ALL of our back patio.

Now some leisure time in the gazebo with a game of Bananagrams.

Surly Winter Lager that I bought on clearance. It's a light amber German-ish bock beer that is 6% ABV and dry for the style. I am really drinking this one too cold (put it in the freezer too long) so it drinks like an unusually good American malt liquor. I'm liking it. I need to see if the liquor store has any more left..

I think at this point everyone knows what my fizzy yellow swills look like. The same can be said about my glassware.

I don't want our relationship to get stale and boring, so I'm going to try to spice things up a bit.

It's been a few years since I tantalized you with my filthy store-brand plastic peanut jar. I hope it rekindles things between us.

Tonight is end of Residency graduation for my Doctor Daughter, a time of great pride in the Beermeister32 household!

Luckily, Doctor’s orders included a nice hoppy IPA from Winston-Salem. Hoppyum IPA (that’s Hoppy and Yum in my book!) lives up to its reputation - 6.25% ABV and loaded with yummy Simcoe hops! Delicious! Well worth the trip!

Congrats to your daughter!
I’m drinking morning coffee.

Finally decided that sitting in the fridge wasn't doing it any good, so here's the last of the Zoiglhaus Black that my friend in Portland sent me home with last winter. It's a really nice beer and I just noticed something interesting about it, it's a live unfiltered beer. Notice the clarity in the first picture, now notice what happened to the clarity in the second picture after the head settled down and I emptied the can. Damnit, that would've been useful to know!

Not-so-CSB: First time I tried a bottle of Delirium Tremens (in my pre-homebrewing days), I didn't know that it was bottle-conditioned, and its opaque bottle didn't give me a preview of the lumpy stuff that was sitting in the bottom. I poured it quickly into the glass, just like with any other beer. And there it all came rolling out, and floating around in the glass. It looked like something my cat horked up. I drank some of it, but no bueno.

Second bottle I was prepared and carefully decanted.
