HB Altbier after getting some steaks ready for the grill and cutting up some taters for French fries. Cholesterol? Never heard of him. 😎

Finally safe to get in the pool without scorching to death. Wife's new retirement destination is Clear Lake California. Ok, Russian River is "close" by. Most folks here are on east Coast but any input is appreciated.

I haven't been to Clear Lake in quite a few years. Was a nice little town back then. Not sure what it is like now. My retirement goal is to get out of California. LOL.

We moved to Austin from Santa Cruz in 1994 for a better life for the family. Austin is slowly turning into a mini San Francisco with all these fracking transplants..😏. It's good for house prices though. Wife lived in California her whole life before we moved so think she's a bit home sick. I tried to convince her to move to a small farm town in Nebraska but that didn't go over well. 🤔 Thanks for the response. 🍻

Waited too long to start walking but made it back alive! Luckily I hydrated last night.

Maybe we should start up a retirement thread. My buddy that I golfed with wants to still work in retirement as a tax consultant. There's interesting things like capital gains and income tax from retirement funds that make the discussions interesting. I'm in a completely different boat as the majority of my friends. Lots have kids and others have no retirement fund at all. So any discussion is met with blank stares. My wanna be tax advisor is my only feedback. It's interesting as a income tax free border is just miles away from me. I got decisions in piles of high tech employee stock that has some big decisions as I pull the plug on them. I almost pulled the plug on a small cabin during COVID to claim a new tax free residency

That's one of the suggestions. Get in a retirement group, especially if early retirement is the plan. I've watched loads of videos over the years and had butt loads of Excel sheets until I finally took the suggestion of a YouTuber and signed up for this. It's indispensable!

Took some time to figure it out but for $10/month, worth every penny.

Spent the day cleaning the solar panels and cleaning out the gutters and am exhausted. Decided to dip into the aged HB and am having a Wee Heavy I made last July. Golden Promise for the base malt and a little Roasted Barley. 8.5% ABV, mashed high with a FG of 1.025. Hopefully the remainder will make it the rest of the year. Probably should brew another batch.

Here's some f'ed up-ness..

I get RO water from the Whole Foods RO Kiosk and never had an issue. I've been battling getting the pH down on the mash scratching my head. Of course , the meter reads the calibration liquid properly. Finally took a reading directly from the 5gal bottle. 9.8..WOW! Called them about it but have no idea what I'm making beer out of. Anyway time for a another.

RO Update. I drove down to WF and showed a manager. Fortunately, he understood the issue. Got a $25 gift so winning..I guess?

I’ve mentioned this before on HBT, if you have a nearby Culligan check about prepaying for RO water. I do that and it’s 30 cents/gallon. I prepaid $75 for 250 gallons. Each time I go in for water they swipe my card and it deducts the gallon amount. A good deal for those of us who use RO but don’t want an in-house RO system.
