Wow. Sorry you had a bad experience there. We've only been out here in CA a few years but during that time I've found their beers on par, if not better than, Firestone Walker's standard lineup (non- barrel aged beers). They've won several GABF medals for their house IPA and Pale Ale. Let me know next time you're in town and the beers are on me. Can't lose that way.

Much needed right now. Ran Ethernet cabling from my office on the second floor to the basement, then across the basement back up to the first floor living room. Speeds are where they should be. These power line adapters are nice in theory but the killed my speed, about an 80% loss with them.

Most enjoyable day with the Missus. We picked up the supplies for my Irish Stout at the Buellton homebrew shop. Found out there's a secret back room there. Down a hallway to a bookcase. Push on the left side and it opens to a bar (think speakeasy) with an outdoor patio. Of all things they had 2017 Bourbon County Brand Stout on tap. Had to try one.

Then it was off to FW Barrelworks. Had to try a newly released Parabola (BBA Russian Imperial Stout) along with its coconut version. The Parabola was delicious,but as good as it was its coconut variant was next level. So effing good.

I had to order another Coconut Parabola along with one of my favorite beers of all time a 2019 Sucaba, (English style Barleywine), to compare. If a gun were held to my head I don't think I could choose between the two.

As we were sitting there enjoying our beers one of the employees asks us if we wanted to go on a tour. Very cool, learned a lot. Here's a pic of their sour beer bottling line, given to them by Russian River Brewing. He hinted that it was given to FW as part of a deal. My guess - a few years ago Russian River was going through a major expansion and was temporarily unable to brew Pliny the Elder. FW stepped up and and helped out by brewing it for them. I'm thinking the bottling line was a bit of a thank you. Who knows though. Nice story anyway.

I have only done a handful of meads myself so I am far from an expert.

I used the "BatchBuildr" tool from meadmakr.com with the Fermaid K/DAP nutrient regime. I fermented completely dry and then backsweetened to around 1.010. I am really happy with how it turned out.

Here in Panama we often get a random assortment of better beers, I dont know how/why this happens, but its always fun to see what fell off the boat this week.

Today's random find was Sam Adams Boston Ale at a supermarket in Bocas del Toro.
