HM ginger beer. On a whim, I added about a shot of triple sec. The orange and ginger play very well together!

I've been meaning to ask you, do you use fresh or dried ginger? I've always considered doing a ginger beer, but I always balk on the notion when I fall into the fresh vs. dried rabbit hole.

I use fresh but have made a tincture using dry to supplement if it's not where I want it. 8 ounces fresh per gallon is usually the right amount for my taste. Dry makes it hotter than fresh does. I get the ginger root at an Asian market that is much cheaper than local grocery stores. Give it a try!

Not drinking this right now, this is just a PSA. My wife picked these two up at Costco today. $9.99ea BBA Stout brewed by Deschutes. Not sure of the distribution so keep an eye out for them in your area. I think I’ll drink one sometime this fall or winter, and age the other one for a year or two.

Victory Belgian tripel. BBD 10/25. The label claims lots of clove and banana. I don't get them. Not a bad beer at all; I like it, but if I tasted it blind I wouldn't think it's a tripel. Slightly sweet, medium body, 9.5%. You don't get the alcohol but you sure know it's there by the finish!

Cellar quality check of a hb’d 8 month barrel aged 14.2% abv imperial stout I did with @BrewMan13. The green wax version was finished on coffee. Held up nicely for a stout and it’s very smooth for abv, but coffee is greatly diminished due to age great beer nevertheless

Delicious Schlenkerla doppelbock oak smoke bought at Hop City. Great smokey oak aroma and taste, smoother than their usual beech. Taste is slightly sweet with fig and date flavors and a little bitterness at the end. Medium, slightly creamy body, nice lacing. 8%. Definitely will get more if they have it.

Yesterday - Enjoying some Wreck Alley Imperial Stout and a flight of samplers at Karl Strauss. Wreck Alley is a big boozy beer, 9% ABV. Samplers include Red Trolley, Oktoberfest, Mosaic IPA and their Blonde Ale.

Shiner has done a great job with their 2024 Oktoberfest, again labelling it “Beer Correct” with the “K”! Beer is a bit heavier than some of the other domestic Oktoberfests, almost has a German “ator” malt taste to it, but a touch lighter. At 5.7% ABV, this will please all Autumn drinkers out there, it’s a belly-warmer. What’s with the twist-off? A tasty lager, Enjoy!
